The Indian team are on the backfoot after losing both their singles tie in Bangalore today. Yuki Bhambri was struggling with his shots. His opponents took advantage and took the first set 6-3. Bhambri made many unforced errors and the second set was one sided as the Serbian Lajovic took 6-2. The third set he improved the game but at one stage he was leading 4-1 but the powerful shots of Lajovic and unforced from the Yuki proved too costly and lost the set 7-5. It was one of those matches that India would love to forget.
The Second singles match between Somedev and Kranjovic was a tough match but the Serbian showed their skills and won the match 1-6,6-4, 3-6,2-6. Without their top players Serbia showed that there are better team than India at this level. Somdev played the second set well but the Serbian did not allow Somdev to return into the match. He played some excellent backhand strokes and put pressure on his serves.
The pressure will on Leadner Paes and Rohan Bopanna to make a comeback for the Indians. They will against Nenad Zimonjic and Bozolijic. Both these have bring out their top game if they have come back in the tie.
These players who lost their matches need to tighten their game and if it comes into the reverse singles the mistakes they did must avoided. The people at Bangalore will be cheering for them and hope that India can win tommorow's game and go into Sunday rubber with confidence.
The rankings of Yuki and Lajovic proved that there is class in the style of play. I am sure they will learn with time. Also the team ranking also proves Serbia are much better than the Indians.
