Hong Kong Super Series 2016: PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma settle for silver

It was a disappointing day for Indian shuttler’s at the Hong Kong Super Series as both PV Sindhu and Sameer loses their respective semi-finals. PV Sindhu lost her to match Tai Tzu Ying in straight sets while, Sameer Verma fought well before losing NG KL of Hong Kong in three gruelling sets.
In the women’s singles PV Sindhu took on Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei. In the first game, Sindhu started well taking the first point. Tai Tzu Ying played excellent badminton and led 3-2. The Chinese Taipei player then led 5-3 before PV Sindhu took 3 points in succession to level the score at 6-6. At the mid interval, Tai Tzu Ying led 11-8. After the interval, Tai Tzu Ying dominated the Indian player and played excellent smashes to put pressure on PV Sindhu. Tai Tzu Ying won the first set 21-15. In the second game, Sindhu started the game on a positive note taking a 4-1 lead before Tai Tzu Ying equalled at 4-4. Both players fought for each point before PV Sindhu took 11-10 lead at the interval. After the interval, Tai Tzu Ying took points in succession to lead 15-12. PV Sindhu tried her best to reduce the marigin at 15-17 in favour of Tai Tzu Ying. Tai Tzu Ying won the 2nd set 21-17
With this Tai Tzu Ying stops the 9 match winning streak of PV Sindhu starting from China Open Super Series.
In men’s singles Sameer Verma took on NG KL of Hong Kong. In the first game, NG KL began on a positive note taking a 4-1 lead and continued to dominate the Indian player. At the mid interval, the Hong Kong player led 11-5. After the interval, Sameer Verma showed the fighting spirit and reduced the gap to 11-13. NG KL played excellent badminton and won the first set 21-14. In the second game, it was the turn of Sameer Verma to dominate the game. At the interval Sameer Verma led 11-5. After the interval Sameer Verma never allowed NG KL to enter into the game and won the second set 21-10. In the third and deciding game, NG KL Angus played attacking badminton and took a commanding lead from the start. At the interval, the Hong Kong player led 11-4. After the interval, Sameer Verma tried his best but NG KL won the set 21-11. This is first time that male player from Hong Kong has won a super series finals.
