Why India can do well away from home?
Since Virat Kohli has taken the test captaincy from MS Dhoni
in 2014, the current Indian team have won 5 successive series. The Indian team
lost to Sri Lanka at Galle in 2015 and since then they are on rolling winning
test series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, against South Africa at home,
against West Indies in West Indies and two home series against New Zealand and
England. Virat Kohli has been unbeaten for 18 test matches.
The main challenge for the current Indian team is to do well
away from home. They will travel to
South Africa in 2017, followed by England and then Australia. Before Virat
Kohli took over, India had lost to England in England twice, Australia in
Australia twice and lost to South Africa and New Zealand in their own country
once each in the past 5 years.
The Current Indian team have played excellent cricket in
2016 winning 9 matches out of 12. India can do well away from home with good
top order batsmen in the form of KL Rahul and Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara,Virat Kohli ,Rahane will form a formidable middle order. Parthiv Patel who made a good comeback in the test series against England will be back up wicket keeper.
The main problem for India in overseas conditions has been
their bowling that is not able to pick 20 wickets. But this young team has good
quality bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Umesh
Yadav who can exploits the conditions well which helps the fast bowlers.
The Current lot has good young bench strength in the form of
Karun Nair who is a good solid batsman. Spinners like Ashwin and Jadeja who are
threat in Indian conditions will be of value with the bat. Jayant Yadav who had a great debut series against England could be an assest.
Virat Kohli is an aggressive captain and wants 100% from the
fielders will make the Indian team is a strong unit. This young lot has lot of
understanding between each other and if Anil Kumble remains the coach then this
team can surely win in South Africa, Australia, England and New Zealand.
In the two home series against New Zealand and England,
Ashwin and Jadeja broke the backbone of the opponents with excellent bowling.
Now the challenge for these two is to deliver the goods outside India and be a
match winner for team India.
