5 reasons for India’s win in the second ODI against England

India defeated England by 15 runs in the second ODI played at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack just finished few minutes ago. It was a high scoring match with India scoring 381 while England fell short by 15 runs scoring 366 runs. Here we look at the five reasons for India’s win over England.
1.       Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni outstanding partnership
Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni came at the crease in the 7th over when India was struggling at 27 for 3. Yuvraj Singh looked in great form timing the ball while MS Dhoni took time to settle by picking singles. After few overs MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh played with lot of intent smashing the England bowlers to all parts of the ground. At the end of 30 overs, India was 167 for 3. Yuvraj Singh completed his first century after 6 years and Dhoni gave Yuvraj full support. Both of them plundered England bowlers to all parts of the ground. MS Dhoni completed his first century after some time. Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni put on 256 for the fourth wicket in 38.2 overs. Yuvraj Singh was dismissed for 150 while MS Dhoni scored 134.
2.       Cameo knocks by Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya
Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya played cameo knocks which helped India to post a mammoth total of 381. Kedar Jadhav came to the crease after the fall of Yuvraj Singh wicket and smashed 22 off 10 balls with 3 fours and 1 six at the strike rate of 220 while Hardik Pandya also played big strokes scoring 19 off 9 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya showed their class with their big hitting.

3.       Brilliant bowlers by Indian spinners in the middle overs
Joe Root and Jason Roy were going great in an aggressive manner. Both the England batsmen were scoring at quick pace putting on 100 runs for the second wicket as Ashwin took the wicket of Joe Root for 54. Jason Roy who was looking good was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes was too dismissed. Jos Buttler was dismissed smartly by Ashwin which left England in big trouble. Indian spinners picked 4 wickets in the middle overs which put pressure on England batsmen.

4.       Great bowling by Bhvuneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was brilliant with the ball. He was picked in place of Umesh Yadav and did the job well. In the first spell, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away just 23 runs without picking a wicket. He was brought in the 42nd over and bowled great Yorkers not allowing England batsmen to score runs easily despite the ball being wet. In the last over 22 runs were needed but Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away just 7 runs which helped India to win the match by 15 runs.

5.        Indian team batting depth

The Indian team have a strong batting depth despite being in difficult situations. In todays match India lost 3 early wickets for 25. Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni showed their class with bat scoring centuries. KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan failed for the second successive time. In the previous match Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav won the match. When Rohit Sharma comes back he will come into the team. With the Champions trophy coming up, the Indian batting depth looks strong and can destroy any bowling line up on its day. Hardik Pandya too can score runs with ease.
