India defeated Australia in the second test match at
Bengaluru by 75 runs to level the series at 1-1. After winning the toss, the
Indian team was bowled out for 189. The Indian bowlers did an excellent job on
the second day just giving away 197 runs and restricted the lead to only 87. In
the second innings KL Rahul 51, partnership between Pujara and Rahane made sure
that India gave a target of 188. For his great performance in both innings, KL
Rahul was named the man of match. The Indian bowlers showed their class and
dismissed Australia for 112 to win the match. Here we look at the 5 talking

1.
India bundled out for 189 on the first day
After winning the toss, the Indian team elected to bat.
India lost an early wicket of Mukund. KL Rahul and Pujara put up an important
second wicket partnership but lost wickets at regular intervals. KL Rahul was
the only Indian batsmen to contribute with the bat in the first innings scoring
90 runs. Apart from that none of top Indian batsmen scored big runs.

Nathan Lyon picking 8 wickets in the first
innings
Nathan Lyon bowled brilliantly in the first innings at
Bengaluru. Before the lunch break, Lyon picked the wicket of Pujara. After the
lunch break, Lyon bowled with great control and troubled the Indian batsmen
with spin and bounce. He dismissed 7 right handed batsmen and 1 left handed
batsmen. In total he picked 8 wickets for just 50 runs to bowl out India for
under 200 in the first innings.
He bowled with great control and not allowed the Indian
batsmen to score runs easily. He dismissed Virat Kohli for 12. Nathan Lyon made
the life tough for the Indian team. It was an excellent display of spin bowling
by Lyon

India restricting Australia lead to 87
At the start of second day, Australia was 40 for 0. India
picked an early wicket of David Warner. After that Steve Smith and Matt Renshaw
played slowly. Steve Smith was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Matt Renshaw and
Shaun Marsh scored important fifties. Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma bowled with
great aggression not allowing Australia to score freely.
At the end of day 2, Australia was 237 for 6. On the 3rd
day, Ravindra Jadeja picked 4 wickets to end with figures of 6/63 to restrict
Australia lead to 87 only.

KL fifty, Pujara and Rahane excellent partnership
In the second innings too, KL Rahul provided a solid start
to the team. He played with solid technique and put the pressure back on the
Australian team. KL Rahul scored 51 vital runs and was dismissed by a brilliant
catch by Steve Smith.
India was struggling at 120 for 4 with a lead of 33. Rahane
and Pujara played with solid technique not allowing the Australian spinners to
settle to a line and length. In the third session of the third day, Rahane and
Pujara steadied the innings with both players taking singles, hitting the bad
balls away for boundaries. At the end of third day, India was at 213 for 4 with
unbeaten stand of 93. Starting today’s day, Rahane completed his half century.
Both players put on 118 runs for the 5th wicket which gave India a
chance to win the match.

Excellent bowling display by Indian bowlers in
the second innings
On the fourth day morning, the Indian team was bundled out
for 274 giving away Australia a target of 188. Chasing 188, David Warner and
Matt Renshaw put on 22 runs for the first wicket. Ishant Sharma gave the early
wicket which started the slide for Australian team .
Ravichandran Ashwin was the best bowler on show taking 6
wickets for just 41 runs in 12.4 overs. Umesh Yadav also did a great job by
picking 2 important wickets of Steve Smith and Shaun Marsh. Ravindra Jadeja
gave away just 3 runs in his 8 overs taking 1 wicket to put pressure on
Australian batsmen.
India won the match by 75 runs and thus levels the series at
1-1. The third test match will be played at Ranchi from 16th
March.
