ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 schedule announced
The ICC has announced the schedule of the Women’s World Cup
2017 to be played from June 24th to 23rd July in England. The
matches will be played in four venues at Bristol County Ground, The County
Ground , Derby, Grace Road, Leicester and Lords Cricket Ground. Each team will
play the other team once in the group stages which will go on till 15th
July 2017.
New Zealand will take on Sri Lanka in the first match of the
tournament on 24th June at Bristol. India starts their tournament
with tough match against England on the same day at Derby. It promises to be a
mouthwatering clash between top eight teams of the world in world cricket.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa qualified after finishing in the
top four of ICC qualifying tournament held in Sri Lanka.
The Indian team will play four league games in Derby
especially the toughest match against arch rivals Pakistan on 2nd
July. India will face West Indies in Taunton, Australia in Bristol and South Africa
in Leicester.
Australia is the defending champions of the tournament and
will start their title defense against West Indies on 26th June at
Taunton. 28 matches will take place over 21 days in round robin matches which
will be followed by semi-finals at Bristol and Derby on 18th and 20th
respectively. The final will be at Lords on 23rd July.
"We are anticipating an
exciting tournament and I know the players are looking forward to competing
here in front of unprecedented levels of support.
“After the extremely successful
qualifying tournament in Sri Lanka last month, we can already see that there
will be some fiercely contested fixtures as the standard and competitiveness of
women's cricket continues to rise," he said.
