IPL 2017: 5 Young Indian players to watch out for
The Indian Premier
League is one of the best platforms for young players to showcase their skills
and talents. In the past 9 editions, the likes of Axar Patel, Jasprit
Bumrah, Hardik Pandya have benefited from this T20 tournament and have been
rewarded the with a place in the national team in limited overs format. In the
2017 auction, franchises have picked up about 22 young Indian players based on
the domestic performances season in the recently concluded tournaments of
2016-17. Here we take a look at top 5 young players to watch out for.
5 Basil Thampi (Fast bowler)
Basil Thampi, a right arm fast bowler made his
first-class debut for Kerala in 2014 against Goa. He has played 11 first class
matches, 6 List A, and 23 T20 matches so far. The young Indian bowler impressed
with his speed during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy taking 8 wickets in the
tournament.
In the IPL 2017 auction, he was bought by Gujarat
Lions franchise for 85 Lakhs. His inclusion in Gujarat Lions team will
strengthen the bowling attack and in absence of Dale Steyn.
4 Tanmay Agarwal (Opening batsman)
Tanmay Agarwal, a promising young
left-handed batsman made his first class for Hyderabad against Goa in
2014. He performed reasonably well in the Syed Mushtaq tournament for Hyderabad
as an opener. Tanmay has represented India at various age level including Under
14, Under 16, Under 19 and Under 23.
In the IPL 2017 auction, Hyderabad wisely made the
selection of Tanmay Agarwal for 10 Lakhs. This might solve the problem of
opening that they faced last year.
3 K Gowtham (ALL Rounder)
K Gowtham, an aggressive hard hitting batsman, and
offspinner play for Karnataka in the domestic tournament. He made his
first-class debut in 2012 against Uttar Pradesh. Since then he has played 12
first class matches, 4 List A, and 20 T20 matches. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali
Trophy, Gowtham was impressive with the bat as well ball.
He was bought by Mumbai Indians franchise for 2
Crores in the IPL 2017 auction. Gowtham addition will value- add to the team
and hence strengthen the batting as well bowling. With Harbhajan Singh in
Mumbai Indians rank, K Gowtham would surely get a chance to learn about spin
bowling.
2 T Natrajan (Left Arm fast bowler)
T Natrajan came into limelight in the Tamil Nadu
Premier League with good aggressive pace bowling. He made his first-class debut
for Tamil Nadu in the 2014-2015 season. Since then he has played 9 Ranji Trophy
matches and 5 T20 matches for his state side.
With their weak bowling line up last year, Kings XI
Punjab have purchased him for 3 Crores Rs. T Natrajan can bring hope to their
squad which performed dreadfully in the last edition.
1 Mohammed
Siraj (Fast bowler)
Mohammed Siraj, a right arm fast bowler from was impressive
in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Hyderabad. He bowled with pace and is a good
option during death overs during the domestic T20 tournament. Playing for
Hyderabad he made first class debut against Services in 2015. Since his
debut, he has played 11 first class A matches, 8 List A matches, and 10 T20
matches.
Sunrisers Hyderabad picked him for a price of 2.6
Crores which will make their team more balanced.
