Champions Trophy 2017: 5 Indian players to watch out for
With less than one month to go, India's 15 man squad has been announced for the prestigious Champions Trophy 2017 to be held in England from 1st June to 18th June. The Indian team are the defending Champions of this tournament that they won in 2013 under the captain of MS Dhoni. The selectors have gone with experience for this big tournament. Here we look at the 5 players which could decide the fate of the Indian team.
5. Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya could prove a good all-around option for team India in conditions which might help seamers. In the previous ODI series against England this year at home, he did a decent job with the bat as well ball. Depending upon the pitch conditions, Hardik Pandya could play as the third seam option who has the ability to bowl all 10 overs and makes the opposition batsmen tough. Also, he is good lower order batsmen who could give vital runs and provide a big difference to the team.
4. Jasprit Bumrah
Since the entrance in the Indian national squad, Jasprit Bumrah has been brilliant in the death overs and given relief to the Indian team who gives away so many runs in death overs. He made his One-day international debut against Australia last year in Sydney. Since then he has played a total of 11 One-day internationals and taken 22 wickets with an economy of 4.89 runs per over. With a strong pace attack for India in the Champions Trophy 2017, Jasprit Bumrah will play a big role in helping the Men in Blue to trouble the opposition batsmen.
3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been in brilliant form for Sunrisers Hyderabad who is the leading wicket-taker. He has a total of 23 wickets in 13 matches. The conditions in England could help the fast bowlers. If the conditions helpful for fast bowlers, then Bhuvneshwar Kumar would be a dangerous bowler who could swing the ball both ways which will trouble the best batsmen in the world. Also, his improvement in death overs would be a handful for the Indian team. He will play an important role in giving the team early breakthroughs if given a chance in the playing XI.
2. Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one the best wicketkeepers in the world at the present moment. His form with the bat has been good in home ODI series against scoring a century when the team was in big trouble at 22 for 3. He took the time to settle and then smashed the England bowlers to all parts of the ground at Cuttack. With Virat Kohli as a captain, MS Dhoni is the best choice to guide him according to the situations. MS Dhoni's form will be crucial for team India with the bat and need to fire if the Men in Blue are to defend the Champions Trophy title.
1. Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli form in the ongoing VIVO IPL 10 has been poor with Royal Challengers Bangalore finishing last. He was named as the full-fledged captain for the home series against England. His form during that series was brilliant with a century in the first match at Pune when team India was struggling. This will be a big test for Virat Kohli to show his batting skills and bring back laurels for the country by again winning the Champions Trophy. His form in England has not been good and would love to score runs which help the Men in Blue to make the country proud.
