All you need to know about record holder Colin Ackerman
It was a day of record as Leicestershire’s part-time spinner
Colin Ackerman recorded the best figures in T20 format during yesterday’s
Natwest T20 Blast match against Birmingham Bears at Grace Road, Leicester on
Wednesday.
Leicestershire captain Colin Ackermann won the toss and decided
to bat first. Harry Swindells 63, Lewis
Hill quickfire 58 off 28 balls helped the hosts to post 189 for 6 in 20 overs.
Captain decided to bowl in the 3rd over and took the wicket of
Dearden. Colin bought himself in the
15th over and took wickets of Rhodes, Liam Banks and Alex Thomson in
his first over to put Birmingham under pressure. In his 4th over he
took wickets of Hain, Brookes, and Jeetan Patel. He finished with amazing
figures of 7/18 in 4 overs. Leicestershire won the match by a massive 55 run margin.
He was the star of the show who was simply sensational and
helped his side win the match with ease. During 2010 Under 19 World, Ackermann
was the vice-captain of the South African side. In June 2019, he will play for
Netherlands in the ICC World T20 qualifiers to be played in United Arab
Emirates.
He broke Arul Suppaih record of taking 6 wickets for 5 runs with
Somerset against Glamorgan in 2011. Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib AL Hasan
picked his best T20 figures taking 6 for 6 with Barbados Tridents against Trinidad
and Tobago Red Steels on August 3, 2013.
Lasith Malinga showed his class during the 2012 Big Bash
League match for Melbourne Stars against Perth Scorchers on 12th
December. He finished with figures of 6 for 7 in 4 overs. Melbourne won the
match with ease.
Kyle Jamison also took 6 for 7 for Canterbury Kings against
Auckland Aces in January 2019. In days of batting dominating T20 cricket,
picking 7 wickets in shortest format is a great achievement.
Colin Ackermann registers best T20 figures taking 7 for 18.
