Dutch Open: Lakshaya Sen cruise to the finals with an easy win over Felix Burestedt
The young Indian shuttler Lakshaya Sen defeated Sweden Felix
Burestedt in two straight sets at 21-12, 21-9 to move into the finals of the
Super 100 Dutch Open played at Alemere, Netherlands on Saturday.
It was a dominating performance by Sen who outplayed his
Swedish opponent right from word go and made life tough for him. Both players
fought for each point till 6-6. Sen produced a dominating display to take 5
points in succession to lead 11-6 at the interval. After the interval, there
was no looking back for the young Indian shuttler and won the first set easily
at 21-12.
It was a one-sided affair in the second game as Sen raced
towards an 8-0 lead. The Indian continued to dominate the Swedish opponent and
won the game easily at 21-9. Sen showed his class with aggressive badminton and
never allowed his opponent to comeback into the match. He will take on Yusuke
Onondera in the finals tomorrow.
Lakshaya produced a dominating display in the semi-finals as
he defeated teammate Rahul Bhardwaj in two straight sets at 21-9, 21-16 to
enter into the finals of the tournament. Sen had a great outing so far in the
tournament beating N Ngyuen of Ireland in the first round by 21-19, 21-17.
In the second round, Sen defeated O Gurrero in two straight
games by 21-12, 21-12 to move into the third round. He continued his superb
form with another two straight game victory over Brazil Yugur Colhero to move
into the quarterfinals.
The Indians had a decent tournament as Rahul Bhardwaj
reached the quarterfinals. Sameer Verma was knocked out in the third round.
It is going to be a cracker of contest in the finals as both
players would be looking to fight it out to win the title.
