Vincy Premier T10 league Match 13: Bowlers lead La Soufriere Hikers to a brilliant 10 run win

From the brink of defeat, La Soufriere Hikers defeated Grenadine Divers by 10 runs in the 13th match of the Vincy Premier T10 league played at Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, St Vincent on Tuesday.
Grenadine Divers captain Asif Hooper won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for Divers as the Hooper took wickets of Salvan Browne and Dillon Douglas in the 1st over itself to leave Hikers at 2 for 2. Tilron Harry and Dean Browne steadied the innings for Hikers with 27 runs stand for the 3rd wicket. Hooper struck again for the 3rd time dismissing Harry. Dean Browne played with positive intent before being dismissed by Richie Richards.

Casmus Hackshaw and Desron Maloney helped Hikers' side to recover from a difficult situation. Both added unbeaten 54 runs for the 5th wicket. Hikers posted 98 for 4 at the end of 10 overs. For Divers, Hooper was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 19. Hackshaw remained not out on 28 off 23 balls while Maloney made 27 off 18 balls.

Chasing 99 runs to win, it was not an ideal start for Divers as they lost an early wicket of Shem Browne in the 1st over. Alex Samuel came to the crease and was dropped by the fielder at third man. After the dropped chance, he took the advantage and put the Hikers bowlers under pressure. On the other hand, Asif Hooper gave him full support. With things looking control for Divers, Jeremy Haywood got the breakthrough dismissing Hooper for 12. Hooper and Samuel added 67 runs for the 2nd wicket. Samuel reached his fifty off 23 balls. Romano Pierre looked out of sorts as he was struggling for timing.

With 16 runs required to win off 2 overs, Kimson Dalzell bowled a stunning over giving away just 4 runs and picking the important wicket of Alex Samuels. Kenson Dalzell kept his nerves to help Hikers win the match by 10 runs.

With this win, La Soufriere Hikers won their fourth match of the tournament.
La Soufriere Hikers 98 for 4 in 10 overs (Casmus Hackshaw 28*, Desron Maloney 27*, Asif Hooper 3/19) beat Grenadine Divers 88 for 5 in 10 overs ( Alex Samuel 55, Othniel Lewis 1/15, Kenson Dalzell 1/6) by 10 runs.

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024.
