CPL 2020 Match 13: Trinbago Knight Riders beat St Lucia Zouks in a rain curtailed match
Trinbago Knight Riders continued their unbeaten run in the
CPL so far as they registered their fourth successive win defeating St Lucia
Zouks played at Queens Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on Wednesday.
Trinbago Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard won the toss
and decided to field first. Andre Fletcher and Rakheem Cornwall started off to
a quick start with positive stroke play. Ali Khan got the breakthrough for
Knight Riders dismissing dangerous Fletcher for 10. Dwayne Bravo was introduced
into the attack and became the first bowler in the T20 format to take 500 wickets
by dismissing Rakheem Cornwall.
Bravo struck again getting the wicket of inform Roston Chase
with a beauty. At the end of six overs, Zouks scored 43 for 3. Najibullah
Zadran and Deyal rescued the innings taking singles and hitting occasional
boundaries. Deyal struggled with his timing while Zadran showed his class.
Pravin Tambe replacing Sunil Narine went for 15 runs but picked the wicket of
Zadran. Zadran and Deyal added 31 runs for the 4th wicket. The
experienced Mohammad Nabi looked in decent touch right from word go. Deyal
looked out of touch and was dismissed by Fawad Ahmed. Nabi and Deyal put on 33
runs for the 5th wicket.
Khary Pierre got the wicket of Zouks captain Darren Sammy
before the rain arrived with the scoreboard reading 111 for 6 in 17.1 overs before
rain arrived.
The rain did not relent, and Knight Riders were set a
revised target of 72 runs in 9 overs. It was not an ideal start as Lendl
Simmons was dismissed off the 2nd ball by Mohammad Nabi. The power
play overs were reduced to 3 overs aside. Colin Munro played some lovely strokes
putting pressure on the Zouks bowlers.
Kesrick Williams got 2 successive wickets of Colin Munro and
Webster. At the end of 3 overs, Knight Riders scored 27 for 3. Chamar Holder dismissed
the dangerous Kieron Pollard making life tough for the opposition.
Tim Seifert and Darren Bravo kept their nerves as they put
on unbeaten 38 runs for the 5th wicket. Bravo remained not out on 23
off 13 balls while Seifert 15 off 16 balls. Knight Riders won the match by 6 wickets
via the DLS method.
For his 2 for 7 in his 3 overs, Dwyane Bravo was named the
man of the match.
Trinbago Knight Riders 72 for 4 in 8 overs/9 ( Darren Bravo
23*, Munro 17, Kesrick Williams 2/17) beat St Lucia Zouks 111 for 6 in 17.1
overs ( Mohammad Nabi 30*, Najibullah Zadran 21, Dwayne Bravo 2/7) by six
wickets via the DLS method.
