CPL 2020 Match: Trinbago Knight Riders register a comfortable 7 wicket
In the 2nd match of the day, Trinbago Knight
Riders produced a dominating performance as they defeated Jamaica Tallawahs by
7 wickets played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Thursday.
Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and
decided to field first. It was an ideal decision as Ali Khan dismissed Chadwick
Walton off the 2nd ball. Seales got rid of Nicolas Kirton with a
good delivery making life tough for Jamaica batsmen. Ali Khan struck again to
dismiss Rovman Powell to leave Jamaica in big trouble at 19 for 3.
Glenn Phillips and Asif Ali steadied the innings for Jamaica
with aggressive stroke play. At the end of six overs, Jamaica scored 46 for 3.
Sunil Narine picked up an important wicket to dismiss Asif Ali for 22. Phillips
and Asif Ali added 39 runs for the 4th wicket. While wickets fell at
the other end, Phillips played with positive intent.
Phillips took the attack to Knight Riders bowlers and
completed his fifty off 34 balls. The explosive Andre Russell could not play
according to his credentials as he made 25 off 26 balls. Knight Riders
restricted Jamaica to 135 for 8 in 20 overs.
Chasing 136 runs to win, Lendl Simmons was dismissed by Fidel
Edwards off the third ball. Sunil Narine continued the superb form that he
displayed in the first match and put pressure on the Jamaica bowlers. At the
end of six overs, Trinbago Knight Riders 38 for 1.
Colin Munro and Narine blasted the Jamaica bowlers with positive
intent. It was an amazing knock by Narine who completed his half-century off 35
balls. Sandeep Lammichhane broke the partnership by getting rid of Narine for
53. Narine and Munro added 75 runs for the 2nd wicket.
Colin Munro looked in complete control, but Darren Bravo
struggled with his timing. Trinbago Knight Riders registered a comfortable 7
wicket win with 11 balls to spare.
For his all-round performance, Sunil Narine was awarded the
man of the match. This was Trinbago Knight Riders' second successive win of the
tournament.

Jamaica Tallawahs 135 for 8 in 20 overs ( Glenn Phillips 58, Andre Russell 25,
Seales 2/21, Ali Khan 2/25, Narine 1/19) by 7 wickets.
