Thanks to a breath-taking by Kieron Pollard, Trinbago Knight
Riders registered a thrilling win over Barbados Tridents in the 17th
match of CPL played at Queens Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on Saturday.
Trinbago Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard won the toss
and decided to field first. Johnson Charles put the pressure on the Knight
Riders bowlers right from word go. Hosein playing his first match of the
tournament struck to dismiss struggling Shai Hope for 4. Kyle Mayers came to
the crease and started off slowly. At the end of six overs, Tridents scored 37
for 1.
Charles and Mayers looked in decent touch with positive
stroke play. It was a good batting display by both batsmen on a slow pitch
helping the spinners. Seales provided the breakthrough for TKR as Charles hit a full toss straight to Lendl Simmons at point. Charles and Mayers added 51 runs
for the 2nd wicket. Knight Riders fielding was not up to mark as
Webster dropped a tough chance at long-off.
Sikander Raza dropped an easy chance to dismiss Mayers.
Hosein got rid of Tridents captain Jason Holder off the very next ball. The
right-arm off-spinner from Zimbabwe Raza struck with his first ball getting
well-set Mayers and then Corey Anderson stumped. Rashid Khan, Ashely Nurse and
Mitchell Santer hit cameos to help Tridents post 148 for 7 at the end of 20
overs.
Chasing 149 runs to win, it was not an ideal start as
Webster and Colin Munro were dismissed by Jason Holder off successive balls.
Lendl Simmons hit big strokes trying to put pressure on Tridents' bowlers.
Rashid Khan struck immediately to get rid of Darren Bravo leaving Knight Riders
in trouble at 27 for 3 and remained at the same score at end of 6 six overs.

their fifth wicket with the scoreboard reading 62. Coming at number 7, Kieron
Pollard took some time to settle. Santer got rid of Lendl Simmons to make
matters worst for TKR.
Kieron Pollard plundered 4 sixes off Hayden Walsh Junior in
the 17th over. Sikander Raza sacrificed his wicket by being run out.
Pollard was simply sensational and completed his fifty off just 22 balls.
It was an amazing hitting by Pollard who smashed Jason
Holder in the 19th over. With 15 runs off the final over, Pollard smashed
a six and made the equation easy. Jason Holder produced a brilliant throw from
the boundary to run-out Pollard’s brilliance. Khary Pierre did the job by
hitting six and then boundary helping Knight Riders win the match by 2 wickets.
For his 72 off 28 balls, Kieron Pollard was named the man of
