IPL Match 47: Sunrisers Hyderabad crush Delhi Capitals
Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a dominating performance as
they cruised to a comfortable win over Delhi Capitals in the 47th
match of IPL 2020 played at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on Tuesday.
Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided
to field first. The birthday boy David Warner and Wriddhman Saha looked in
ominous touch right from word go putting pressure on their prime fast bowlers
Rabada. Warner made the batting at ease hitting boundaries at will along with
Saha.
Before the power play over ended, Warner smashed Rabada for
22 runs including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. During the innings, the captain led
from the front completing his fifty off just 25 balls while Saha gave him good
support. At the end of the first six overs, SRH raced away to 77 for 0.
Saha and Warner continued to milk the bowling making life
tough for DC bowlers. At the end of the first timeout, SRH scored 84 for 0.
After the timeout, Saha also joined in the party. It was an amazing end to
Warner’s innings as R Ashwin dismissed Warner giving an easy catch to Axar
Patel at extra cover. SRH openers put on 107 runs in just 9.4 overs to lay a
strong foundation for a massive total.
Saha took the charge and completed his half-century off 27
balls. Manish Pandey played with intent and kept the scoreboard ticking. Nortje got
the important wicket of Saha with a good length delivery. Saha and Manish
Pandey added 63 runs for the 2nd wicket. With that wicket, SRH
scored 170 for 2 at the end of the second timeout.

were not able to hit boundaries in death overs but posted a massive total of
219 for 2 in 20 overs. Pandey and Williamson put on unbeaten 49 runs for the 3rd

ideal for Delhi Capitals as inform Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed in the first
over by Sandeep Sharma. Dhawan was not able to clear mid-off as Warner took a
simple catch. Marcus Stoinis was promoted at number 3 but could not make
contributions.
Ajiyanka Rahane played with positive intent putting pressure
on Jason Holder. Shimron Hetymer also played some lovely shots. At the end of
the first six overs, Delhi Capitals made 54 for 2.
Rashid Khan did the job for SRH by dismissing Shimron
Hetymer and then Rahane in the same over to leave Delhi Capitals reeling at 55
for 4. Hetymer and Rahane put on 40 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Shreevats Goswami came to keep replacing injured Wriddhman Saha. At the end of
the first timeout, DC scored 66 for 4. Pant and Iyer tried their best to put
pressure on SRH bowlers but it was a tough ask.
Vijay Shankar got the breakthrough dismissing DC captain
Iyer with a simple catch to Williamson at extra cover. Iyer made 7 off 12
balls. Vijay Shankar had to hobble off due to injury. At the end of the second timeout,
Delhi Capitals made 83 for 6.
After the timeout, Pant could not time the ball as the task
became very tough. Rashid Khan got his 3rd wicket dismissing Axar
Patel as Priyam Garg took the catch to leave Delhi Capitals reeling. T Natarajan produced
a brilliant yorker to get rid of Kagiso Rabada.
Sandeep Sharma hit the final nail in the coffin as he dismissed
Pant with a review. The umpire signaled wide, but Warner decided to review,
the decision was overturned as there was a slight edge onto the bat.
Tushar Deshpande provided some entertainment with aggressive
shots. Natarajan dismissed Nortje to help Sunrisers Hyderabad register an
emphatic 88 runs win.
Sunrisers Hyderabad 219 for 2 in 20 overs ( Saha 87, Warner
66, Nortje 1/37) beat Delhi Capitals 131 in 19 overs ( Pant 36, Rahane 26, Rashid
Khan 3/7, Natarajan 2/26) by 88 runs.
For his knock of 87 off 45 balls, Wriddhman Saha was named
the man of the match award. With this win, SRH keeps the hopes alive of
reaching playoffs.
