Indian team for the T20I home series against England announced

The 19 member Indian Cricket Team for the home T20I series against England has been announced by the BCCI just a few hours ago today.

After a successful domestic season, Surya Kumar Yadav has been called into the T20I series. Indian dashing wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan has been included with great performances for Mumbai Indians and Jharkhand.

Rahul Tewaita has earned a maiden T20I call after a successful 2020 IPL season. He was one of the main performers for Rajasthan Royals in a disappointing season last year.

In the opening slot, there are three options including Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul would be the likely openers for the opening slot. Virat Kohli will be leading the team.

Surya Kumar Yadav has been included in the T20I series after an impressive domestic season for quite some time. Shreyas Iyer retained his place.

Hardik Pandya and Rahul Tewaita are the all-rounder's options included. Tewaita did a remarkable job in his debut season for Rajasthan Royals last year. Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan are the wicketkeeper’s options.  

Pant makes a comeback in the T20I series after being dropped. Ishan Kishan makes it into the T20I series after impressive performances in the domestic seasons.

In the pace bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested due to workload management. T Natarajan, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Navdeep Saini are the fast-bowling options. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also makes a comeback into the T20I squad.

Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel are the spin bowling options for the Indian team. Varun Chakravarthy retains his place after being injured before the T20I series against Australia.

It promises to be a mouthwatering series between the top two teams in the world. Both teams will play 5 match T20I series at the newly made Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad from 12th March.

India is coming off a famous 2-1 series win over Australia while England whitewashed South Africa 3-0. Both teams would be looking to see the combinations before the World T20 starting in India later this year.

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean. After the initial domination, a superb pass by Arijit with a goal by Uttam Singh in the 13 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt. Nitish Kumar and Steve Taylor steadied the ship for the USA. Sam Curran dismissed Steve Taylor caught by Moeen Ali. Taylor and Nitish Kumar added 34 runs for the 2 nd wicket.
