Two Indians jump in the latest ICC Test rankings
After a 2-day Pink-Test match between India and England played
at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, two Indians gain significantly in the
latest ICC Test rankings announced on Sunday.
In the batting department, Kiwis captain Kane Williamson,
Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Joe Root, Indian captain Virat Kohli, Babar
Azam and Henry Nicholls maintains their respective place at number 1, 2, 3,
4,5,6 and 7.
The explosive Indian opener Rohit Sharma has been in
sensational form during the ongoing Test series against England. After a brilliant
161, he showed his class with a superb 66 and 25* in the 3rd Test
match played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. As India collapsed to 145,
Rohit Sharma scored 66 and finished the match with a six helping Team India
register an emphatic 10 wicket win on the 2nd day of the Pink-Ball Test
match. He jumped six places up to his career-best rankings of number 8th.
Rohit was made the opener in Test matches from 2019 onwards
and played important roles in giving Team India good starts.
David Warner also maintains his number 9th place.
The dependable Cheteshwar Pujara was dismissed for 0 and slips down to 10th
position.

In the bowling department, Australian pace spearhead Pat
Cummins and Neil Wagner remained static at number 1 and 2 positions.
India’s off-spinner R Ashwin climbs four places up to number
3rd in the bowling rankings. He wreaked havoc in the Pink-Ball Test
match against England by grabbing 7 wickets. During this Test match, Ashwin
became the fourth Indian to take 400 wickets.
Josh Hazlewood and Tim Southee remain at number 4 and 5 places.
The veteran pair of James Anderson and Stuart Broad slips down one place due to
poor performances in the 3rd Test match against India.
Kagiso Rabada jumps one place to number 8th in
the rankings. Jasprit Bumrah slips down one place as he did not pick any
wickets during the 3rd Test match against England. Mitchell Starc
ends the top 10 bowlers’ rankings.
