Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 Day 1: Ishan Kishan stole the show
The opening day of the 2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy saw
Jharkhand skipper Ishan Kishan stole the show with a breath-taking innings
against Madhya Pradesh played at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on Saturday.
Madhya Pradesh captain Parth Sahani won the toss and decided
to field first. Jharkhand lost an early wicket of Utkarsh Singh cheaply. Ishan
Kishan started off slowly before taking on the attack to Madhya Pradesh bowlers.
He displayed great hitting abilities and put MP bowlers under immense with his
power hitting. Kishan completed his fifty off 42 balls.
After completing his half-century, Kishan started to blast
away the Madhya Pradesh bowlers and reached century off 74 balls. It was an
amazing master class by Ishan Kishan who just tore away the MP bowlers and upped
the ante with some brilliant shots. He raced away to his 150 off 86 balls. With
more than 22 overs remaining in the innings, Kishan was eventually dismissed
for a sensational 173 off 94 balls including 19 fours and 11 sixes.
After the fall of Ishan Kishan wicket, Middle-order batsman
Virat Singh (68 off 49 balls), Sumit Kumar ) 52 off 58 balls) and Anukul Roy
quickfire 72 off 39 balls helped Jharkhand post the highest total in Vijay
Hazare Trophy history. Jharkhand posted a mammoth total of 422 for 9 in 50
overs.
Varun Aaron proved himself after being unsold in the IPL
auction. He took 6 for 37 in 5.4 overs and helped bowl out Madhya Pradesh for a
paltry total of 98 to give Jharkhand a massive 324 runs win.
Kishan has been in sensational form for the past few
seasons. He was the leading six-hitter in the IPL 2020 with 30 sixes. With the
Indian team yet to be announced for the white-ball series against England, his
performances could seal him a berth in the Indian team.
