India versus England 5th T20I: India seal the series with a resounding win

 

Thanks to a superb all-round performance, the Indian Cricket Team registered an emphatic win in the deciding T20I match against England played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday.

England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and decided to field first. Indian captain Virat Kohli came to open the crease along with Rohit Sharma. The Indian openers started cautiously before Rohit Sharma took the attack to England bowlers with elegant strokes. The Indian openers were severe on Mark Wood and put him under immense pressure. On the other hand, Virat Kohli gave most of the strike. At the end of the first six overs, India raced away to 60 for 0.

After the field restrictions, Rohit continued his attacking approach and completed his fifty-off just 30 balls. Kohli looked decent also keeping the momentum going along with Rohit. The senior duo dominated the England bowlers. After smacking a six, Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Ben Stokes taking the inside edge onto the stumps for a well-made 64. The Indian openers added 94 runs laying a strong foundation for a big total.

Surya Kumar Yadav continued from where he left in the previous match hitting 2 lovely sixes off Adil Rashid’s bowling. Virat Kohli and Surya Kumar kept the pressure on the England bowlers hitting boundaries making life tough for the visitors. A superb relay catch by Chris Jordan and Jason Roy at the boundary ended a quickfire knock for Surya Kumar Yadav. Kohli and Surya Kumar Yadav added 49 runs for the 2nd wicket. Hardik Pandya started to get going right from the word go putting the England bowlers under pressure. On the other hand, Kohli reached his 3rd fifty off 36 balls.

Kohli and Hardik Pandya took the attack smashing 18 runs off the 19th over including 2 sixes by Hardik and one boundary by Kohli. Both batsmen-maintained momentum scoring unbeaten 81 runs for the 3rd wicket. The Indian Cricket Team posted a mammoth total of 224 for 2 in 20 overs.

Chasing a massive total of 225 runs, England got off to the worst possible start as Jason Roy was castled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Dawid Malan looked in great touch right from the word go and put Hardik Pandya under pressure. Jos Buttler also played with intent putting not allowing them to settle. At the end of the six overs, England raced away to 62 for 1.

Malan and Buttler showed their class against the Indian bowlers hitting boundaries at will. Malan returned to form after low scores in the first four matches. Both batsmen got going and kept with the required run-rate. Malan reached his fifty off 33 balls while Buttler completed his half-century too off 30 balls. The Indian team decided to review the decision but it remained not out.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar got the breakthrough for India dismissing dangerous Buttler giving an easy catch to Pandya at long-off. Buttler and Malan added 130 runs for the 2nd wicket. The Indian bowlers kept bowling tight overs maintaining pressure on England batsmen. Shardul Thakur grabbed two important wickets of Bairstow and well-set Malan in the same over to keep England in check. Pandya struck to dismiss Eoin Morgan making life tough for visitors.

It was too much for the England batsmen as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Natarajan dismissed Ben Stokes taking outside edge to the keeper. Jofra Archer was run-out by Surya Kumar Yadav trying to take a second run. Thakur dismissed Chris Jordan in the final over. Sam Curran smacked 2 sixes but it was a little too late for England.

The Indian Team registered an emphatic 36 runs win to make a great comeback after being 1-2 down in the series.
