Two Bangladeshi shine in the latest ICC ODI bowlers rankings

 

After impressive performances in the 2 matches completed against Sri Lanka, two Bangladeshi rises during latest ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings announced by ICC on Wednesday.

New Zealand's prime fast bowler Trent Boult still occupies the number 1 spot. He has not played any ODI matches so far in 2021. Bangladeshi young spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz climbs to number 2 in the bowler’s rankings. He has been exceptional in the first two ODI matches against Sri Lanka.

During the first ODI, he grabbed 4 for 30 and then took 3 wickets in the second match to help Bangladesh register comfortable wins.

Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman slips down one place to number 3. He has not performed according to the level. Matt Henry, Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, Chris Woakes, and Josh Hazlewood maintained their respective positions of numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Bangladeshi left-arm pacer Musftizur Rahman climbed up 8 places to number 9th in the bowlers’ rankings. Along with Miraz, the pacer played important roles in helping Bangladesh register easy wins over Sri Lanka in the first two ODIs so far. He took 3 for 34 during the opening ODI and then performed brilliantly with figures of 3 for 16.

Australian pacer Pat Cummins slips down to number 10th in the rankings. Miraz and Rahman shown tremendous skills as Bangladesh posted respectable totals of 257 and 246 in the first ODI matches.

Miraz became the 3rd Bangladeshi after Shakib AL Hasan and Mortaza to be in the top two bowlers’ rankings. Both Miraz and Rahman would be looking to continue their brilliant form for the 3rd ODI match to be played on 28th May.

In the batting department, Mushfiqur Rahim climbs to number 14th ranking with match-winning knocks in both matches. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma maintained the top two spots in the batting rankings.
