India versus New Zealand WTC finals day 3: New Zealand ends the day in decent position.

It was a brilliant day of cricket as both teams fought on the third day of the World Test Championship finals played at Ageas Bowl, Southampton on Sunday.

The match started half hour late due to a wet outfield. Starting on the overnight score of 146 for 3, Kyle Jamieson and Trent Boult began off brilliantly bowling tight lines and lengths not allowing Rahane and Kohli to score runs easily. Jamieson struck early for New Zealand dismissing Kohli with a beauty. Rahane and Kohli added 61 runs for the 4th wicket. Boult and Jamieson continued to test the Indian batsmen. After surviving a close LBW shout, Pant hit a boundary before providing a simple catch to Latham.

Ajiyanka Rahane looked in decent touch hitting gaps while Jadeja played decently. Kane Williamson bought a field change that resulted in the wicket of Rahane for a well-made 49. Ravichandran Ashwin played some attacking strokes putting the Kiwis bowlers under some pressure. Southee provided the breakthrough by getting rid of Ashwin who tried to hit another boundary. At the end of the first session, India ended at 211 for 7.

It was a perfect start for the New Zealand team as Kyle Jamieson got wickets of Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah off successive deliveries. Soon after, Trent Boult dismissed Jadeja to bowl out India for 217.

The Indian opening duo put the Kiwis openers, Devon Conway and Latham, under pressure with some disciplined bowling. With the scoreboard reading 19 for 0, rain arrived. Both Kiwis openers survived few chances as the ball did not go to hand but ended the second session at 36 for 0.

Devon Conway and Latham faced top-quality bowling but remained steady. R Ashwin was bought into the attack troubling the Kiwis openers. Conway left the good balls but hit bad balls away for boundaries. Soon after the drinks break, Ashwin struck for India dismissing Latham with a good catch by Kohli ending solid 70 runs opening partnership.

The Indian bowlers kept tight lines and lengths against Williamson. Conway looked confident by leaving the deliveries. Jadeja was bought into the attack and troubled Conway. Conway reached his fifty 137 balls. Ishant Sharma struck to get rid of well-set Conway with a good catch by Shami. Williamson and Conway added 31 runs for the 2nd wicket. The umpires decided to call off play due to bad light. New Zealand ended 3rd day at 101 for 2 still trail by 116 runs.
