Indian Team for Sri Lankan tour announced

The Board of Cricket Control of India have announced their squad for the 3 ODI and 3 T20Is matches against Sri Lanka starting from 13th July 2021.

With the Indian senior team featuring in World Test Championship finals and England tour, Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the captain while Bhuvneshwar Kumar named as the vice-captain for the tour.

The Sri Lankan tour includes many uncapped Indian players who performed brilliantly in the Indian Premier League season. Devdutt Paddikal, Nitish Rana, and other top performers have been given a chance to feature in the squad.

Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Paddikal are the openers in the squad. Surya Kumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan comprise the middle order. Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are the two wicketkeepers included.

The all-rounder's department consists of Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Krishnappa Gowtham. Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Navdeep Saini, and uncapped Chetan Sakaryia have been included in the team.

Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy, Gowtham, Krunal Pandya consists of spinners. It promises to be a great chance for the youngsters to showcase their skills against a good quality side and stake their claim in the World T20 to be played in October- November this year.

Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore, and Simrajeet will take part as net bowlers to help the Indian Team practice.

The Indian Team will start their Sri Lankan journey from 13th July with 3 ODIs followed by 3 T20Is from 21st July. All the 6 matches will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

These youngsters would be looking to make an impact and prove their worth in Indian colors. Gaikwad, Paddikal, Rana, Gowtham performed really in IPL. The pair of Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will make a comeback to hope for a great performance.

Asia Champions Trophy 2024: India Enters Finals With Commanding Win

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean. After the initial domination, a superb pass by Arijit with a goal by Uttam Singh in the 13 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead. Soon after, Korea’s two penalty corners before the third penalty corner as the shot hits Sumit’s body.   At the end of the first quarter, India led 1-0.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt. Nitish Kumar and Steve Taylor steadied the ship for the USA. Sam Curran dismissed Steve Taylor caught by Moeen Ali. Taylor and Nitish Kumar added 34 runs for the 2 nd wicket.
