Jonny Bairstow also played some lovely strokes putting the Indian pacers under pressure. After the initial spell by Siraj and Shami, Ravindra Jadeja was bought into the attack. Root and Bairstow looked at ease putting them under serious pressure. Bairstow made batting look easy reaching fifty off just 90 balls to keep the Indian bowlers at bay. Kohli decided to take the 2nd new ball immediately. Root looked composed reaching his century off 200 balls. Jos Buttler joined in with Root keeping the pressure on Indian bowlers. Ishant Sharma provided the much-needed breakthrough for India getting rid of Buttler with a fuller delivery hitting the stumps. Buttler and Root added 54 runs for the 5th wicket.
