ICC World T20 qualifiers Match 6: Bangladesh stay alive with a comprehensive win over Oman
The Bangla Tigers fought back strongly to win their first match of the tournament against hosts Oman played at Al Amerat Stadium, Muscat on Tuesday.
Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and decided to
bat first. It was not an ideal start for the visitors as they lost wickets of Liton

Bangladesh to score runs easily. At the end of the first six overs, Bangladesh
scored just 29 for 2.
After the field restrictions, Mohammad Naim and experienced Shakib
AL Hasan kept the pressure on Oman bowlers. Oman fielding was not great as they
dropped few chances. Shakib showed intent right from word go making life tough
for the hosts. Naim kept his calm reaching fifty off 43 balls. A brilliant direct
hit by Aqib ended superb innings by Shakib. Shakib and Naim added 80 runs for
the 3rd wicket.
Oman bowlers made a terrific comeback into the match as they
took wickets at regular intervals in the last five overs. Fayyaz Butt dismissed
Rahim and Saifuddin off successive deliveries. Bilal Khan got wickets from
Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah and Rahman to bowl out the visitors for 153.
Chasing 154 runs to win, Aqib was not able to provide a
decent start being dismissed by Rahman. Kashyap Prajapati provided momentum for
Oman hitting boundaries along with Jatinder Singh. Rahman struck for Bangladesh
dismissing dangerous Prajapati. Prajapati and Jatinder added 34 runs for the 2nd
wicket.
Jatinder Singh looked in brilliant touch and kept the
pressure on Bangladeshi bowlers. On the other hand, Oman captain Zeeshan Masqood
was not able to hit runs due to disciplined Bangladesh bowling. A lovely catch
by Rahman resulted in the wicket of Masqood. Masqood and Jatinder Singh added
34 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Bangladeshi spinners Shakib AL Hasan did the damage along
with Saifuddin, Rahman to strangle Oman innings and restrict them to 127 for
9 in 20 overs. With this win, Bangladesh impressed with their performances
after a shocking defeat to Scotland in their opening match.
