ICC World T20 2021 Finals: All-round Australia win their maiden World T20 title

 The Australian Cricket Team produced a dominating performance in the finals against Kiwis played at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on Sunday.

Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to field first. It was a cautious start by Martin Guptill along with Daryl Mitchell. Hazlewood struck early to get rid of Mitchell caught by Matthew Wade. The Australian bowlers did not allow Guptill and Williamson to score runs easily. At the end of the first six overs, New Zealand made just 32 for 1.

After the field restrictions, the experienced duo of Guptill and Williamson were not able to keep the strike. Josh Hazlewood dropped a simple chance to get rid of Williamson. After the break, Guptill's struggle came to end being dismissed by Adam Zampa trying to hit a big shot. Guptill and Williamson added 48 runs for the 2nd wicket. Williamson took the attack putting the Australian bowlers under immense pressure.

Glenn Phillips also struggled to time the ball while Williamson looked in sublime form reaching his fifty off 32 balls. After reaching half-century, Williamson continued to boundaries with ease while Phillips was caught at the boundary by Hazlewood. Williamson and Phillips added 68 runs for the 3rd wicket. Williamson's brilliance came to end caught by Steve Smith at long-off. Janes Neesham and Tim Seifert provided some late impetus helping New Zealand post 172 for 4 in 20 overs.

In reply, it was not an ideal start for Australia as captain Aaron Finch was brilliantly caught by Mitchell at deep midwicket. Mitchell Marsh looked in great touch right from the word go hitting Milne for a six off his first ball. Warner also timed well scoring runs easily. At the end of the first six overs, Australia scored 43 for 1.

After the field restrictions, Marsh and Warner continued to maintain the momentum for Australia hitting Ish Sodhi and Santer for runs with ease. It was a superb batting effort by both these batters as they kept the scoreboard ticking. Warner looked in control reaching fifty off 34 balls while Marsh reached his fifty off 31 balls. Trent Boult struck coming back into the spell got rid of Warner. Warner and Marsh added 92 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Glenn Maxwell joined in with Marsh and maintained the momentum for Australia. Despite some struggles, both batters kept Kiwi bowlers at bay. Maxwell hit the winning runs helping Australia win their maiden T20 title. Marsh and Maxwell put on unbeaten 66 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Australia 173 for 2 in 18.5 overs (Mitchell Marsh 77*, Warner 53, Trent Boult 2/18) beat New Zealand 172 for 4 in 20 overs (Williamson 85, Hazlewood 3/16) by 8 wickets.

For his unbeaten 77 off 50 balls, Mitchell Marsh was named the man of the match while David Warner was awarded man of the series for his 289 runs.

ICC World T20 qualifiers 2021 Match 3: Curtis Campher brilliance takes Ireland to a comfortable win

 Thanks to a brilliant spell by Curtis Campher, Ireland registered an emphatic win over the Netherlands in the opening match of Group A played at Sheikh Zayed International Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Monday. Netherlands captain Peter Seelar won the toss and decided to bat first. It was not an ideal start as Ben Cooper was run out in a mix-up as the umpire checked if Paul Stirling took the bails off and the decision was retained as out.  The second day saw some great action from both teams as the match hangs in the balance played at Kennington Oval, London on Friday. It was an ideal start for India as Umesh Yadav grabbed the wicket of nightwatchman Craig Overton with a sharp catch by Virat Kohli. Yadav struck again to dismiss Malan with another good catch by Rohit Sharma to leave England in big trouble at 62 for 5. Ollie Pope survived few anxious moments against Bumrah and Yadav.
