India versus New Zealand 3rd T20I: India clean sweep series with a dominating win

 The Indian Cricket Team was at their best as they crushed New Zealand in the 3rd and final T20I match played at iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. Ishan Kishan came to open the innings along with Rohit Sharma. Indian openers gave a flying start putting Kiwis bowlers under pressure especially Adam Milne and Trent Boult. Rohit looked in brilliant touch hitting boundaries with ease. At the end of the first six overs, India raced away to 69 for 0.

Soon after the restrictions, Kishan was caught by Seifert to end a rockling 69 runs opening partnership. The stand-in captain Santer struck twice in quick succession getting wickets of Surya Kumar Yadav and Pant to leave the Indian team struggling. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma looked confident completing his fifty off 27 balls. A superb return catch by Ish Sodhi ended the innings for Rohit Sharma.

Shreyas and Venetaksh Iyer steadied the ship for India putting pressure on New Zealand bowlers. It was a good batting display by both batters to rescue the hosts. Thanks to cameos by Harshal Patel and 19 runs off final over by Deepak Chahar helped India post 184 for 7 in 20 overs. Harshal Patel became the 2nd Indian batter to get hit wicket after KL Rahul in T20Is.

In reply to 185 runs to win, Martin Guptill looked in great touch putting Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar under severe pressure. Deepak Chahar dropped a tough return catch off Guptill. Axar Patel was bought into the attack and got rid of Mitchell caught by Harshal Patel. Patel struck again in the same over to dismiss Mark Chapman with a beautiful piece of bowling stumped by Pant to leave New Zealand struggling. Patel did the damage again getting the wicket of Glenn Phillips cleaned bowled trying to reverse sweep. It was brilliant bowling by Patel keeping things tight. At the end of the first six overs, New Zealand made 37 for 3.

Guptill took on Chahal with brilliant strokes. Venetaksh Iyer was given a bowl in international and did a decent job. Guptill reached his fifty off 33 balls to keep New Zealand in the hunt. Chahal dismissed Guptill trying to clear the shot caught by Surya Kumar at long-on. Guptill and Seifert added 39 runs for the 4th wicket. A good throw and gather by Pant resulted in a run-out of Tim Seifert. Pant took a good high catch to dismiss James Neesham to leave New Zealand struggling.

A superb piece of direct hit resulted in the run-out of Santer. Venetaksh Iyer took his maiden T20I wicket getting the wicket of Adam Milne caught by Rohit Sharma at covers. Deepak Chahar grabbed the final scalp dismissing Ferguson with a return catch to bowl out New Zealand for 111.

India 184 for 7 in 20 overs (Rohit Sharma 56, Kishan 29, Santer 3/27) beat New Zealand 111 in 17.2 overs (Guptill 51, Seifert 17, Patel 3/9, Harshal Patel 2/26) by 73 runs.

For his 3 for 9 in 3 overs, Axar Patel was awarded the man of the match while Rohit Sharma was named as man of the series for his 2 half-centuries to his name.
