Schedule and Groups of Commonwealth Women’s T20 tournament announced
Cricket is making a comeback in Commonwealth Games to be played at Birmingham next year. There will be 7 teams taking part with one that would qualify from the qualifiers.
Group A consists of India, Australia, and Barbados. The
Indian women’s team will take on Australia in the opening match of the
tournament. It promises to be an exciting tournament as the top 7 teams will take
part and entertain lots of people.
7 teams out of eight teams were decided early this year. The
final one will be decided through a qualifying tournament to be played in
January 2022. There are two groups divided into 4 teams each and the top two
teams will qualify for the semi-finals.
England qualified directly as being the hosts. The rest 6
teams qualified for the prestigious tournament based on rankings on 1st
April 2021. This is 2nd time that Cricket will feature in
Commonwealth Games and will begin from 22nd July along with Netball.
Group B looks strong with the likes of South Africa, New
Zealand, hosts England, and the qualifying team. It promises to be an exciting
affair as top players from each country will feature helping their country win
medals.
