Ashes 2021/22 3rd Test 3rd Day: Scott Boland’s spell blows away England
The Australian Cricket Team showed their domination as they registered an emphatic win over England before lunch to retain the Ashes played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG on Tuesday.
Starting on the overnight score of 31 for 4, Ben Stokes and
Joe Root showed some intent against Australian bowling. Mitchell Starc produced
a stunning delivery to get the wicket of Ben Stokes to leave England in
tatters. Scott Boland ripped England batting line-up with consistent lines and
lengths keeping the visitors tottering.

Joe Root with a good catch by Smith at slips, and then a return catch to dismiss
Mark Wood to pick his maiden five-wicket haul in Test matches. He took the
wicket of Ollie Robinson making life miserable for England. Cameron Green
rattled James Anderson's stumps to bowl out England for 68 giving Australia dominating innings and 14 runs win.
Australia bowlers kept the pressure on England batters right
from the word in this Test match. Right from winning the toss on overcast
conditions on day 1, Australian bowlers produced the magic and bowled out
England for modest total of 185. The pitch had seam movement not allowing
batters to score runs easily.
In reply, the Australian batters struggled also but Marcus
Harris provided some resistance at the top. Thanks to the lower-order contribution,
Australia posted 267 runs in the first innings to give hosts a valuable 82 runs lead.
Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Scott Boland made life miserable for England to
reduce them to 31 for 4 at the end of day 2.
Scott Boland produced a magical spell on the 3rd
morning along with Starc and Green to give Australia an innings and 14 runs win
to retain Ashes.

267 in 87.5 overs (Marcus Harris 76, Warner 38, James Anderson 4/33, Robinson
2/64) beat England 185 in 65.1 overs (Root 50, Bairstow 35, Cummins 3/36, Lyon
3/36) and 68 in 27.4 overs (Joe Root 28, Scott Boland 6/7, Starc 3/29) by an
innings and 14 runs.
For
his figures of 1 for 48 and 6/7, Scott Boland was awarded the man of the match.
With this win, Australia earns 12 more points in the ICC Test Championship
points table. The fourth Test match will begin on 5th January 2021 at SCG.
