India versus West Indies 3rd ODI: India whitewash West Indies with a comphrensive win
The Indian Cricket Team proved too much for the West Indies side as they registered a comprehensive win in the 3rd One-day international played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat
first. Kemar Roach decided to review for LBW, but the decision was retained as not
out. It was a terrible start as Joseph struck twice off successive deliveries
getting Rohit Sharma taking inside edge onto the stumps and Kohli down the leg
catch. Shikhar Dhawan after recovering from COVID struggled to score his first
runs after 15 deliveries. Odean Smith bowled with control troubling the Indian
batters and then finally got the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan caught by Jason
Holder. India looked in trouble at 42 for 3 at end of the first 10 overs.
The West Indies pacers kept tight lines and lengths not
allowing Shreyas Iyer to score runs easily with the pitch having a little bit of seam
movement. Rishabh Pant played with intent hitting the bad balls away for
boundaries keeping the scoreboard ticking making life tough for visitors. Both
Indian batters kept the pressure on the opposition bowlers and never looked in
trouble. Iyer completed his fifty off 74 balls while Pant reached his
half-century off 47 balls to keep the momentum going for India. Hayden Walsh
Junior took an important wicket-grabbing Pant with a lovely catch by Shai Hope.
Pant and Iyer added 110 runs for the 4th wicket.
Last match hero Surya Kumar Yadav was dismissed cheaply
caught by Brooks at backward point to leave India struggling. Shreyas Iyer also
making a comeback after recovering from COVID kept the scoreboard ticking. Soon
after, Iyer fell caught by Darren Bravo at long-off to leave India struggling.
Deepak Chahar put pressure back on West Indies bowlers, especially Hayden Walsh
Junior. Washington Sundar also showed a cool head. Chahar kept the momentum going on
for India and was eventually dismissed by Jason Holder hitting the gloves to
Hope. Chahar and Sundar added 53 runs for the 7th wicket.
Washington Sundar did not give most of the strike to number
10 Mohammed Siraj. Sundar played a vital hand and was eventually dismissed in the final over. Holder ended the innings by getting Siraj’s wicket to bowl out India
for 265.
Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Siraj looked in brilliant bowling
form with seam movement. The Indian team decided to review the decision for
LBW, but it was retained as not out. Siraj eventually struck getting rid of
Shai Hope. Deepak Chahar produced a magical spell dismissing Brandon King
caught by Surya Kumar Yadav at slips and then getting rid of Brooks caught by
Iyer at backward point to leave West Indies reeling. Nicolas Pooran and Darren
Bravo steadied the ship for West Indies with positive strokes. West Indies
ended the first 10 overs at 47 for 3.
Prasidh Krishna dismissed Darren Bravo with a good catch by
Kohli. Bravo and Pooran added 43 runs for the 4th wicket. Krishna
grabbed another big wicket of Jason Holder to put West Indies under immense
pressure. The Indian bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals to
reduce the visitors to 82 for 7.
Odean Smith provided some big-hitting abilities and kept the pressure on Indian bowlers. Joseph also looked in decent touch scoring runs
with ease. Siraj finally dismissed dangerous Smith caught by Dhawan. Smith and
Joseph added 50 runs for the 8th wicket. Hayden Walsh Junior
provided some resistance to West Indies along with Joseph. Siraj dismissed
Walsh Junior caught by Kohli. Walsh Junior and Joseph added 47 runs for the 9th
wicket. Krishna finished off the job getting rid of Joseph with a good high
catch by Kohli.
India 265 in 50 overs (Shreyas Iyer 80, Deepak Chahar 38,
Jason Holder 4/34, Joseph 2/54) beat West Indies 169 in 37.1 overs ( Odean
Smith 36, Pooran 34, Krishna 3/27, Siraj 3/29) by 96 runs.

the match award. Prasidh Krishna impressed with 9 wickets and was awarded man
