IPL 2022 Match 28: Sunrisers Hyderabad continue their winning streak

 Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their winning streak with a convincing win over Punjab Kings played at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to field first. The stand-in captain Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh struggled against the Jansen and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kumar got the breakthrough for SRH dismissing Dhawan caught by Jansen at mid-on. Prabhsimran Singh showed intent by playing some attacking shots. Natarajan got rid of Singh with a review by Williamson. The umpire gave it not out but on review, it was overturned to out as it hit the faint edge of the bat. At the end of the first six overs, PBKS made 48 for 2.

J Suchith struck in his first over dismissing Bairstow leaving PBKS struggling. Umran Malik bowled with pace as Livingstone looked innovative right from the word go. Malik then produced a decent delivery to grab the wicket of Jitesh Sharma to leave PBKS in trouble at 61 for 4. At the end of the first timeout, PBKS made 62 for 4.

Livingstone showed intent right from the word go making life tough for SRH bowlers. Sharukh Khan was given out by the umpire but on review, it was overturned to not out as it hit the helmet. Livingstone was at his prime hitting massive shots keeping the scoreboard ticking. Khan also played some big shots to maintain the momentum. At the end of the second timeout, PBKS made 114 for 4.

Livingstone completed fifty off 26 balls and looked good for a good total along with Khan. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bought into the attack dismissing Sharukh as Kane Williamson took a good high catch. Livingstone and Khan added 71 runs for the 5th wicket. Livingstone did not get much strike before Kumar dismissed Livingstone with a good low catch by Kane Williamson.

Umran Malik bowled a stunning final over dismissing Odean Smith, Rahul Chahar, Vaibhav Arora, and then Arashdeep Singh was run out of final delivery as SRH bowled out PBKS for a modest total of 151.

Chasing a modest total of 152 runs to win, it was not an ideal start as SRH captain Williamson was dismissed providing a simple catch at mid-off by Dhawan. Rahul Tripathi looked in great touch putting the bad deliveries away for boundaries along with Abhishek Sharma. At the end of the first six overs, SRH made 39 for 1.

Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma maintained the momentum for SRH keeping the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the first timeout, SRH reached 61 for 1. Rahul Chahar struck dismissing Rahul Tripathi caught by Sharukh at long-off. Tripathi and Sharma added 48 runs for the 2nd wicket. Chahar showed class dismissing Sharma bringing back PBKS into the match. Rabada missed a golden run-out chance to get rid of Markram.

After the initial struggle, Pooran and Markram maintained the momentum keeping the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the second timeout, SRH scored 121 for 3. Pooran and Markram never allowed the pressure to let chasing down the target easily. Both Pooran and Markram added unbeaten 75 runs for the 4th wicket.

SRH 152 for 3 in 18.5 overs (Markram 41*, Pooran 35*, Rahul Chahar 2/28) beat PBKS 151 in 20 overs (Livingstone 60, Umran Malik 4/28, Kumar 3/22) by 7 wickets.

For his 4 for 28 and 2 catches, Umran Malik was named the man of the match award.
