IPL 2022 Match 36: SRH thrash RCB to register their fifth successive win
The Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their winning form as they thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore in a one-sided contest played at Brabourne Stadium, CCI, Mumbai on Saturday.
SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss again and decided
to field first. Marco Jansen rocked the RCB top order getting wickets of Faf du
Plessis with a peach, Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat. SRH bowlers kept it tight
putting the RCB batsmen under immense pressure. Maxwell also went cheaply with
a lovely low catch by Kane Williamson at mid-off. At the end of the first six
overs, RCB looked in deep trouble at 31 for 4.
Prabhudessai and Shahbaz Ahmed provided some resistance to
the innings before a brilliant stumping by Pooran ended the innings for Prabhudessai.
With that wicket, the first timeout ended at 47 for 5. Dinesh Karthik’s
sensational form ended as he dismissed caught down the leg via review for caught
behind. Kane Williamson decided to review the decision and it was overturned to
out as there was a little edge.
Umran Malik got rid of Shahbaz Ahmed with a quicker delivery
to leave RCB in tatters at 49 for 7. Hasaranga was given out by the umpire but
on review, it was overturned to not out as it hit the pad. Natarajan dismissed Harshal
Patel and then Hasaranga. At the end of the second timeout, RCB scored 65 for 9.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar got the wicket of Mohammed Siraj with a
lovely catch by Kane Williamson bowling out RCB for 68. It was a superb bowling
effort by SRH bowlers utilizing the conditions that had bounce and swing.
Chasing a paltry total of 69 runs to win, Abhishek Sharma started
off cautiously before taking on the RCB bowlers. On other hand, Kane Williamson
looked steady keeping the strike rotating. At the end of the first six overs, SRH
openers made 56 for 0.
Abhishek Sharma kept on the pressure with positive strokes
against RCB bowlers. He was eventually dismissed caught by Anuj Rawat at
long-on. Rahul Tripathi ended the match with a six as SRH won the match by 9
wickets.
SRH 72 for 1 in 8 overs (Abhishek Sharma 47, Harshal Patel
1/18) beat RCB 68 in 16.1 overs (Prabhudessai 15, Maxwell 12, T Natarajan 3/10,
Jansen 3/25) by 9 wickets.
For his figures of 3 for 25 in 4 overs, Marco Jansen was
named the man of the match award. With this win, SRH moved to second place in
the points table.
