Ranji Trophy 2021/22 Finals Day 3: Shubham Sharma and Yash Dubey centuries puts MP in driving seat
The Madhya Pradesh batsmen made good use of the conditions as they ended the third day in a commanding position against Mumbai played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday.
Starting on the overnight score of 123 for 1, Shubham Sharma
showed intent right from the word go putting bad deliveries away. Dubey
completed fifty off 137 balls while Shubham Sharma reached half-century off 74
balls. Mumbai got an early chance as Arman Jaffer dropped a tough chance to get
rid of Shubham Sharma. Shubham and Yash Dubey kept the momentum going for
Madhya Pradesh keeping the scoreboard ticking. There were a few anxious moments but
both MP batsmen scored runs with ease.
Yash Dubey made good use of batting conditions and completed
century off 234 balls. With that boundary, Madhya Pradesh went into the lunch
break at 228 for 1.
After the lunch break, Dubey and Sharma showed solid defense
keeping the momentum going. Prithvi Shaw took the 2nd new ball immediately
after 80th over. Shubham Sharma completed his century off 186 balls
to keep Mumbai on the backfoot. After anxious moment, Mohit Avashti eventually
got the breakthrough dismissing Shubham Sharma with a good catch by Tamore.
Shubham Sharma and Dubey added 222 runs for the 2nd wicket.
Rajat Patidar looked in great touch right from the word go
putting pressure on the Mumbai bowlers. Yash Dubey played with rock-solid defense.
Madhya Pradesh went into tea break in a dominating position at 301 for 2.
Patidar kept the momentum going for MP reaching fifty off 44
balls while Dubey played with rock-solid defense. Patidar was given a reprieve as
he was caught but Mulani overstepped. Mulani struggled not able to pick wickets
and struggled badly. Mulani eventually got the breakthrough by dismissing Dubey.
Dubey and Patidar added 72 runs for the 3rd wicket. Rajat Patidar
and captain Aditya Srivastava remained steady enough helping Madhya Pradesh end
day 3 on 368 for 3.
