Ranji Trophy 2021/22 Finals Day 4: Madhya Pradesh on course for their maiden title
Thanks to some brilliant batting by Rajat Patidar, Saransh Jain, Madhya Pradesh ended the 4th day of the Ranji Trophy finals in a comfortable position played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Saturday.
Starting on the overnight score of 368 for 3, Aditya
Srivastava and Rajat Patidar began the day on a positive note. The pitch had an uneven
bounce with some balls keeping low and some high bounce. Mohit Avasthi provided
the breakthrough that bounced rebounding from Tamore gloves to Sarfaraz Khan. Srivastava
and Rajat Patidar added 60 runs for the 4th wicket. Akshat Raghuvanshi
was brilliantly bowled by Tushar Deshpande with lovely delivery that kept low.
Mumbai missed another golden chance to get rid of Parth Sahani dropped by
Prithvi Shaw at slips. Patidar looked composed with positive intent completing
century off 163 balls.
Saransh Jain and Rajat Patidar looked composed putting
pressure on the Mumbai bowlers. At the end of the first session, Madhya Pradesh ended
at 475 for 6. After the lunch break, Patidar and Jain continued their merry way
before Mumbai took the 3rd new ball. Tushar Deshpande produced a
sensational delivery to get rid of Patidar. Patidar and Saransh Jain added 53
runs for the 7th wicket. Anubhav Agarwal frustrated the Mumbai
bowlers with rock-solid defense while Saransh Jain looked composed.
Mulani grabbed the wicket of Anubhav Agarwal with a lovely
delivery. Mulani grabbed the wicket of Kumar Kartikeya. Saransh Jain took most
of the strike completing fifty off 88 balls. With the scoreboard reading at 529 for
9, rain arrived. After rain break, after drop chance, Saransh Jain was dismissed
caught by Aman Khan to be bowled out for 536 with a huge lead.
In their second innings, Prithvi Shaw came to open the
innings along with Tamore. Both Mumbai openers were given reprieves being
dropped. Shaw and Tamore kept the momentum going not allowing MP bowlers to
settle. Shaw looked in sublime touch showing his class while Tamore also looked
in great touch.
Kumar Karthikeya eventually struck for MP dismissing Tamore
taking the inside edge onto the stumps. Tamore and Shaw raced away to 63 runs in
quick time. Soon after, Shaw also perished dismissed by Gaurav Yadav. Arman Jaffer
and Parkar ensured that Mumbai end day 4 on 113 for 2 still trail by 49 runs.

Pradesh 536 in 177.2 overs (Dubey 133, Shubham Sharma 116, Patidar 122, Mulani
5/173, Desphande 3/116) by 49 runs.
