England versus Pakistan 3rd T20I: England take series lead with a dominating win
The England Cricket Team returned to winning ways with a resounding win in the 3rd T20I match against hosts Pakistan played at National Stadium, Karachi on Friday.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to
field first. Mohammad Hasnain got the breakthrough by dismissing Phil Salt with a
good catch by Mohammad Nawaz early. Will Jacks looked in great touch putting
pressure on the Pakistan bowling along with Dawid Malan. At the end of the first
six overs, England scored 57 for 1.
Usman Qadir did the job for Pakistan in his first over dismissing
Malan. Malan and Will Jacks added 43 runs for the 2nd wicket. Qadir
struck again to dismiss dangerous Will Jacks to put England in some trouble.
Ben Duckett and Harry Brooks showed intent right from the word go putting
enough pressure on Pakistan bowlers.
Brooks kept the momentum going for England by hitting big
shots against spinners and pacers completing fifty off 24 balls. On other hand,
Duckett looked impressive too reaching half-century off 31 deliveries. Both
England batters kept the scoreboard ticking hitting boundaries at will against all
Pakistani bowlers. Duckett and Brooks added unbeaten 139 runs for the 4th
wicket to help England post a mammoth total of 221 for 3.
Chasing 222 runs to win, it was a horrible start for the hosts
as last night's heroes Babar Azam and Rizwan went cheaply. Mark Wood troubled
Pakistan openers as he dismissed Babar with a sharp catch to Topley at third man.
Topley then shattered the stumps of Rizwan to leave Pakistan in big trouble. It
was a remarkable bowling effort by England bowlers as Wood and Curran took 2
more wickets to leave Pakistan in shamble. At the end of the first six overs,
Pakistan looked in big trouble at 29 for 4.
Shan Masood and Khushdil Shah provided some resistance with
lovely shots. Shan Masood looked impressive as he looked in great touch. Adil Rashid
got the breakthrough by dismissing Shah providing simple catch to Brooks. Shah and
Masood added 53 runs for the 5th wicket. Masood continued his
impressive performance completing fifty off 28 balls.
It was an uphill ask for the Pakistani batters as they
looked in big trouble. Rashid struck to dismiss Nawaz caught by Brooks. Nawaz
and Shan added 52 runs for the 6th wicket. Moeen Ali produced a
superb direct throw to dismiss Qadir. Shan Masood remained not out but England
registered an emphatic win.
England 221 for 3 in 20 overs ( Harry Brooks 81*, Duckett
70*, Qadir 2/48) beat Pakistan 158 for 8 in 20 overs ( Shan Masood 65*, Shah
29, Mark Wood 3/24) by 63 runs.
For his unbeaten 81 off 35 balls and 2 catches, Harry Brooks
was named the man of the match award. England takes a 2-1 lead in 7 match T20I
series. The fourth T20I would be played on 25th September in
Karachi.
