India’s T20I squad for World Cup announced

The Indian selectors announced a strong squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup slated to start in Australia next month.

After a disappointing Asia Cup exit in the Super 4 stage, the Indian team would be looking to perform well in the prestigious tournament. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel make a return after making comeback after an injury.

The Indian team has a strong batting line-up with the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda. Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik have been included as the two wicketkeepers for the prestigious tournament.

The pace bowling department looks potent with Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh retained their places after a decent performance in the Asia Cup 2022. Hardik Pandya is a genuine pace bowling option and will be key as a fifth pace bowling option.

Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin and Axar Patel have been included as two spin bowling options. The Indian team missed the services of Bumrah and Harshal Patel in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022 played in Dubai.

The Indian team will be looking to shred away the performances after a disappointing 2021 World Cup played in UAE.

The reserves include Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, and Shreyas Iyer as backup players. India has been placed with Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and 2 more qualifying teams from the first round in the Super 12 stage.

It looks like a solid unit with experienced players that can change the course of the game. Hoping to see the Indian team lift the ICC title after the 2013 Champions Trophy.
