FIFA World Cup 2022: England start their campign with a resounding win

 England began Group B with a resounding win over Asian powerhouse Iran in the first match of day 2 played at Khalifa International Stadium, Al Rayyan on 21 November.

England kept the pressure on Iran's defense with consistent attacks. Tripper produced a free kick sliding it down for Kane but it was well saved by Irani goalkeeper Beiranvard. Beirnavard was bleeding and could not continue for long. Hossein Hosseini was named as the concussion substitute. Alireza Jahanbakash was awarded a yellow card as put foot on Shaw. After so possession, debutant Bellingham scored in the 35th minute to give England a 1-0 lead.

Saka scored from a lovely volley with an assist by Harry Maguire in the 43rd minute as England doubled their lead. England made it 3-0 as Raheem Sterling scored from an assist by Kane. There were 14 minutes added to the first half. At the end of the first half, England led 3-0.

Iran decided to bring in Hossein Kanaanizadgen and substitute Chesmi. They bought two more substitutes as Ali Karimi was out while Saeed Ezatoahi was bought in. Ali Gholizadeh was bought in to replace Jahanbaksh. Moretza Pouralganji was awarded a yellow card. England kept the pressure on Iran's defense with consistent attacks but could not convert chances. Saka scored his 2nd goal with an assist by R Sterling in the 62nd minute to make it 4-0 in favor of England.  

Iran made another change as Torabi was bought in replacing Milad Mohammadi. They pulled one goal back as Mahedi Taremi scored from an assist by Gholizdeh in the 65th minute. Harry Maguire was substitute for Eric Drier. Saka was substituted for Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling substituted for Jack Grealish, Mason Mount out with Phil Foden in.

Marcus Rashford scored from an assist by Kane in the 71st minute as England took the lead to 5-1. Callum Wilson was in while Harry Kane substituted. Both teams tried their best to score goals but could not do it. Grealish converted England’s sixth goal with Callum Wilson in the 90th minute. There were a few more minutes of added time.

Iran was awarded a penalty via VAR as Taremi scored in the 13th minute of added time. England eventually won the match massive 6-2. England dominated right through the game as they had 13 shots on target as compared to 8 by Iran.

England had 79 percent possession as compared to 21 percent of Iran. Iran had 2 yellow cards while England looked impressive.
