ICC World T20 2022 SF 2: England crush India to enter finals
The England Cricket Team were too good as they crushed India by 10 wickets in the second semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 played at Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to
field first. It was an ideal start for the England side as Chris Woakes grabbed the early wicket of KL Rahul taking the edge to Buttler. Virat Kohli looked in
decent touch with a lovely six putting some pressure on England's bowling. On
other hand, Rohit Sharma struggled as Buttler bought in Adil Rashid and Liam
Livingstone early. At the end of the first six overs, India made 38 for 1.
After the field restrictions, Kohli and Rohit Sharma tried to
keep the scoreboard ticking before Chris Jordan grabbed the wicket of Rohit caught by
Sam Curran. Rohit and Kohli added 47 runs for the 2nd wicket. Surya
Kumar Yadav showed intent putting pressure on Stokes trying to increase momentum.
Adil Rashid got the big wicket of Surya Kumar Yadav with a simple
catch to Salt leaving India in trouble. Hardik Pandya came at number 5 took few
balls to settle before putting England bowlers under immense pressure. Virat
Kohli also played with lot of intent completing fifty off 39 balls. Hardik
Pandya took on Sam Curran's lusty blows. After completing half-century, Kohli was
dismissed caught by Adil Rashid at short third man. Hardik and Kohli added 61
runs for the 4th wicket.
Hardik Pandya just upped the tempo taking on England bowlers
completing fifty off just 29 balls. Rishabh Pant sacrificed his wicket with a
runout. Hardik Pandya looked in great touch before being hit wicket off the final
delivery. At the end of 20 overs, India posted 168 for 6.
Chasing 169 runs to win, Jos Buttler began the innings with
lovely shots against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first over. Hales and Buttler
showed intent putting enough pressure on the Indian bowlers. England openers
never allowed them to settle making chase easy. At the end of the first six overs,
England raced away to 63 without loss.
Buttler and Hales never looked back keeping hitting shots
keeping the chase on track. Hales completed fifty off 28 balls while Buttler
reached half-century off 36 balls. It was a dominating performance by England's
openers as they quickly chased the target. Both went unbeaten with 4 overs to
spare.
England 170 for 0 in 16 overs ( Alex Hales 86*, Buttler 80*,
Arshdeep Singh 0/15) beat India 168 for 6 in 20 overs ( Hardik Pandya 63, Kohli
50, Chris Jordan 3/43) by 10 wickets.
For his unbeaten 86 off 47 balls, Alex Hales was named the
player of the match. England progressed into the finals with a 10-wicket win.
