BWF World Tour Finals 2022: Top 8 players in each section

 The 2022 BWF World Tour finals was supposed to happen from 14th-18th December in Guangzhou but moved to Bangkok. The top 8 players from each section qualified for the prestigious tournament that will be held from 7th-11th December 2022.

Here we look at the Top 8 players in each section

Men’s Singles

The lone Indian player in the fray HS Prannoy has been clubbed in Group along with Viktor Axelsen, Kodai Naraoka, and Lu Gungazu. Each player will face another once before the top two will qualify for the semi-finals. Prannoy will face first Japanese Narakoa on 7th December, followed by Gungazu of China on the 8th before facing Axselen of Denmark in the final Group match to be played on 9th December.

HS Prannoy had a dream run in 2022 finishing runners-up in the Swiss Open, semi-finalists at the Super 1000 Indonesian Open, and Super 500 Malaysia Masters.

Group B comprises Chou Tien Chen, Jonathan Christie, Anthony Gingting, and Loh Kean Yew.  It promises to be an exciting tournament as Prannoy is the lone Indian to take part in the end-of-the-year tournament.

Chou Tien Chen- Chinese Taipei

Jonathan Christie- Indonesia

HS Prannoy performed brilliantly in the 2022 Badminton season. Prannoy would be looking to show their mettle against top-quality opponents against Kodai, Lu of China, and then Victor Axelsen in the Group stage matches.

Women’s Singles

Chen Yufei of China, Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei, He Bing Jao of China, An Se Young of South Korea, Ratchnok Inatnon of Thailand, Busan Ongbamrungpahn, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, and Tunjung of Indonesia progressed into the BWF World Tour finals 2022.

The women’s doubles section includes two pairs from China, Thailand, and Malaysia, and 1 each from South Korea and Indonesia.
