Super 750 Malaysia Open- Indian contingent
The Indian shuttlers will take part in the Super 750 Malaysia Open starting on 10th January 2023. It promises to be an exciting tournament as the likes of PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen, and HS Prannoy would look to create a major impact. The tournament will end on 15th January.
PV Sindhu will
make a comeback into the badminton circuit after recovering from an injury that she
suffered during the Commonwealth Games 2022. She will start her journey against
Carolina Marin in the first round.
Saina
Nehwal will face Han Yue of China in the first round. Akashi Kashyap will face the tough challenge of Hsu W-Chen of Chinese Taipei.
Malvika
Bansod would be hoping for a decent performance against An Se Young of South
Korea in the first round.
The men’s
singles section will see Lakshya Sen take on HS Prannoy in the first round. Srikanth
Kidambi Srikanth would face Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.
Men’s
doubles section includes Pre-qualifiers KP Garaga and Panjala take on Kang M H and
Seo S J of South Korea. The Commonwealth Gold medalists Chirag Shetty and
Satwiksairaj RankiReddy will face Choi S G and Kim W H of South Korea.
In the women’s section
Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will take on Yeung NT and Yeung PL of Hong
Kong, China. A Bhatt and Shikha Gautam would face S Paesampran and Supaijkarul
of Thailand in the first round.
There will
be no mixed doubles taking part in the tournament. It promises to be an
exciting start as Indian shuttlers would look to continue from where they left off in 2022.
