US Open 2023: Top Indian shuttlers qualify for the quarterfinals.

The top Indian shuttlers progressed into the quarterfinals of the Super 300 US Open with contrasting wins played at Council Buffs, Iowa on 13 July 2023.

Lakshya Sen continued his impressive run with a straight-game win over J Louda. The first game saw the Indian look in complete control and put the opponent under pressure with a 21-8 performance. It was a closely fought affair in the second game as Sen and Louda fought for each point before the Indian held onto his nerves to win it by 23-21 to move into the quarterfinals.

The qualifier produced another big upset defeating Misha Zilberman in three thrilling games. The Indian showed great fighting spirit before winning the first game 21-18. Both players fought for each point in the second before the Israel player won it by 23-21 to force the match into the decider.

Subramanian then showed his class with an impressive performance and win the third game easily at 21-13 to move into the quarterfinals. Lakshya Sen and Sankar Subramanian will face in the round of 8 stage.

PV Sindhu had also no problems in defeating Sung S Y of Chinese Taipei. It was a dominating performance by the Indian winning easily by 21-14, 21-12. The Indian looked in complete control and did not allow her opponent to comeback into the game. She will now face Gao J F of China in the round of 8 stage.

The Indian fans would be hoping that the remaining shuttlers in the tournament could go forward. Lakshya Sen and S Subramanian would be facing each other during senior-level tournaments for the first time.

On the other hand, PV Sindhu would look to build against tougher challenges. She defeated Gao J F during the Canada Open last week.
