IPL 2024 Match 14: Rajasthan Royals Register Dominating Win Over MI

Rajasthan Royals registered their third successive win of the tournament with a resounding win over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 1st April 2024.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start as Trent Boult got wickets of Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir off successive deliveries to leave the hosts in trouble. Boult struck again dismissing Brevis to leave MI in deep trouble. Burger was included in the playing XI got rid of Kishan with a simple catch to Samson leaving the hosts struggling.

Hardik Pandya showed intent to put pressure on RR bowling, especially Burger. At the end of the first six overs, MI made 46 for 4. After the field restrictions, Pandya showed intent with some lovely strokes that kept the momentum going for MI.  At the end of the first timeout, MI ended at 59 for 4.

Yuzvendra Chahal got an important breakthrough by dismissing Pandya with a good catch by Powell at long-on. Pandya and Tilak Varma added 56 runs for the 5th wicket. Mumbai Indians kept losing wickets at regular intervals as RR bowlers made life tough for them. It was a great bowling performance with MI posting below par total of 125 for 9 in 20 overs. For RR, Boult and Chahal took 3 wickets each, Burger 2 and Avesh Khan 1 wicket.

Chasing 126 runs to win, RR lost the wicket of Jaiswal in the first over after a quickfire start. Akash Madhwal made an entry into the playing XI today looked impressive with disciplined lines and lengths. Madhwal struck to dismiss Samson shattering the stumps. Samson and Buttler added 32 runs for the 2nd wicket. At the end of the first six overs, RR made 46 for 2.

Madhwal struck to dismiss Buttler with a simple catch to Piyush Chawla. At the end of the first timeout, RR ended at 60 for 3. Riyan Parag looked impressive along with R Ashwin keeping the scoreboard ticking. R Ashwin was dismissed trying to flick and caught by Tilak Varma. Parag and Ashwin added 40 runs for the 4th wicket.

Riyan Parag showed his attacking style of play putting MI bowlers under pressure. Parag smashed fifty off 38 balls and ensured that RR won the match by six wickets with 27 balls to spare. Shubham Dubey came as an impact and looked at ease. Parag and Dubey added an unbeaten 39 runs for the 5th wicket.

For his 3 for 22 in 4 overs, Boult was named the player of the match award. With this win, RR moved to the top of the points table.

  The defending Champions India registered a commanding win in the 2 nd semi-finals against South Korea of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 played in Hulunbir, Inner Mongolia on 16 th September. Indian team began the first quarter on a good note with Abhishek's reverse flick shot saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jahean. After the initial domination, a superb pass by Arijit with a goal by Uttam Singh in the 13 th minute to give India a 1-0 lead.   The defending Champions England qualified for the semi-finals with a thrashing of the USA in a must-win game played at Kensington Oval, Barbados on 23 rd June 2024. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Reece Topley struck in the first over dismissing Andries Gous with a simple catch to Salt.
