Pak vs Bang 1st Test 2nd Day: Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel Puts Pakistan In A Commanding Position
Pakistan
ended the second day of the 1st Test match against Bangladesh in a
commanding position played at Rawalpindi Cricket Ground, Rawalpindi on 22nd
August 2024.
Starting on
the overnight score of 158 for 4, Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan started with
positive intent hitting some lovely shots to keep pressure on the Bangladesh
bowlers. Rizwan looked in sublime touch with innovative shots reaching fifty
off 64 balls.
Rizwan
upped the ante keeping scoreboard ticking making life tough for the Bangladesh
bowlers. Rizwan and Shakeel kept calm taking singles and boundaries with ease.
It was a superb batting effort as Pakistan went into the lunch break in a
commanding position at 256 for 4.
After the
lunch break, Rizwan made batting look easy reaching his 3rd Test
century off 143 deliveries. On the other hand, Saud Shakeel also looked solid keeping
the scoreboard ticking to reach his century off 195 deliveries. Bangladesh
captain Shanto took the 2nd new ball immediately. Shakeel and Rizwan
kept the momentum going for Pakistan.
Saud
Shakeel survived an anxious moment when Litton Das hit a throw, the third
umpire gave not out. Mehidy Hasan Miraz produced a peach to dismiss Saud
Shakeel with a brilliant piece of stumping by Das. Rizwan and Saud added 240
runs for the 5th wicket.
Salman Ali
Agha looked positive in the brief stay before the tea break. Pakistan went into
the tea break with the scoreboard reading 367 for 5.
After the tea
break, Agha and Rizwan continued to pile on the pressure with attacking strokes.
Agha was caught by Mehidy Hasan Miraz at short third man. Agha and Rizwan added
44 runs for the 6th wicket. Rizwan continued his merry way reaching
150 off 214 balls. Shaheen Shah Afridi joined in the party with some lusty
blows. Rizwan showed his class remaining not out on 171 before Shan Masood declared
their innings on 448 for 6. Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi put on 50 runs for
the 8th wicket.
In reply, Zakir
Hasan and Shadman Islam looked confident against the Pakistan bowling. Mohammad
Rizwan suffered cramps as Sarfaraz Ahmed came to keep wickets. Bangladesh openers
ensured that they went without losing any wickets.
