Pak vs Bang 1st Test 3rd Day: Great Fightback By Bangladesh Batters

 

The Bangladesh batters showed great resistance as they put Pakistan bowlers under tremendous at the end of the 3rd day of the 1st Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on 23rd August 2024.

Starting on the overnight score of 27 for 0, Pakistan pace bowlers had a disciplined start. Mohammad Rizwan took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Zakir Hasan ending 31 runs opening partnership. Captain Shanto looked cautious about disciplined bowling. Shadman Islam kept the Pakistan bowlers at bay.

Mohammad Ali produced a peach to dismiss Bangladesh captain Shanto. Mominal Haque came to the crease with positive intent while Shadman Islam. Both kept the scoreboard ticking scoring. Islam reached fifty with a lovely boundary off the last delivery of the 1st session. Bangladesh went into the lunch break at 134 for 2.

Soon after the lunch break, Khurram Shahzad produced a lovely delivery to dismiss Haque for 50. Haque and Islam added 94 runs for the 3rd wicket. Islam looked in decent touch keeping the scoreboard ticking along with experienced Mushfiqur Rahim. Mohammad Ali produced a peach dismissing Shadman Islam off the final delivery of the 2nd session. Shadman and Mushfiqur Rahim added 52 runs for the 4th wicket.

Shakib AL Hasan came to the crease along with Rahim keeping the momentum going for Bangladesh. The part-timer Saim Ayub was introduced into the attack and dismissed Shakib AL Hasan to break the partnership.

Litton Das looked in great shape along with Mushfiqur Rahim. Pakistan captain Shan Masood took the second new ball immediately. Das looked cautious initially before launching an assault on the Pakistan bowling. Rahim completed his half-century off 104 deliveries.

Das put pressure on Naseem Shah with 3 fours and 1 six, reaching fifty off just 52 balls. It was brilliant batting by Das and Rahim that helped Bangladesh end day 3 on 316 for 5. For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took 2 wickets, Naseem, Mohammad Ali and Saim Ayub took 1 wicket each.

Bangladesh 316 for 5 in 92 overs (Shadman Islam 93, Rahim 55*, Liton Das 52*, Khurram Shahzad 2/47) trail Pakistan 448 for 6 d in 113 overs (Mohammad Rizwan 171*, Saud Shakeel 141, Hasan Mahmud 2/70, Shoriful Islam 2/77) by 132 runs.
