Pak vs Bang 1st Test: Bangladesh Register Historic Test Win Over Pakistan
Bangladesh
registered their first-ever Test win over Pakistan on the fifth day played at Rawalpindi
Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on 25th August 2024.
Starting on
the overnight score of 23 for 1, Pakistan got off to a worst possible start as
captain Shan Masood was dismissed by Hasan Mahmud via review. The umpire called not out, on review it was turned to out. Liton Das dropped a simple
chance to dismiss Babar Azam off the very first delivery.
Abdullah Shafique
and Babar Azam showed some intent against Bangladeshi bowlers. Nahid Rana put
Pakistan on the backfoot getting the wicket of Babar Azam taking the inside
edge onto the stumps. Shafique and Babar added 38 runs for the 3rd
wicket.
The veteran
Shakib AL Hasan then dismissed Saud Shakeel in the next over with a lovely
stumping by Litton Das. Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan looked solid playing
according to the situation. Shafique resistance ended providing an easy catch
to Shadman Islam. Shafique and Rizwan added 37 runs for the 5th
wicket. Salman Agha also perished to leave Pakistan in deep trouble. Rizwan
looked in good touch keeping the scoreboard ticking. Pakistan went into the
lunch break at 108 for 6.
Mehidy Hasan
Miraz struck after the lunch break getting rid of Shaheen Shah Afridi. Pakistani
batting lineup looked clueless against disciplined Bangladeshi bowling. Mohammad
Rizwan provided some resistance, reaching fifty of 70 deliveries.
Mehidy Hasan
dismissed half-centurion Rizwan as their hope of saving the test match finished.
Miraz ended the innings by dismissing Mohammad Ali bundling Pakistan for 146.
Zakir Hasan
and Shadman Islam chased down the target of 30 runs without losing any wickets.
It was a remarkable performance by the Bangladesh team to register their first-ever
Test win over Pakistan.
Bangladesh
showed their class with both bat and ball. Shoriful Islam bowled with heart
during both innings which kept pressure on the Pakistani batting. While batting,
Mushfiqur Rahim, Shadman Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mominal Haque &Litton
Das scored valuable runs helping Bangladesh post 565.
For his 191,
Mushfiqur Rahim was named the player of the match. Bangladesh takes a 1-0 lead
in the 2-match Test series. The second test match will be played at the same
venue on 30th August 2024.

Rizwan 51, Shafique 37, Mehidy Hasan Miraz 4/21, Shakib AL Hasan 3/44) by 10
wickets.
Bangladesh created a huge upset to defeat Pakistan by 10 wickets in their home ground.
