Ind vs Bang 1st Test 3rd Day: India On Course For A Commanding Win
The Indian
Cricket Team produced another dominating performance against Bangladesh on the
3rd day of 1st test match played at M Chidambaram
Stadium, Chennai on 21st September 2024.
Starting on
the overnight score of 81 for 3, Shubman Gill and Pant began off cautiously
taking singles. Both batters looked in great touch taking on Mehidy Hasan Miraz
with some big shots keeping the scoreboard ticking. Pant reached fifty off just
88 deliveries, keeping the momentum going. After his milestone, Pant took on
the Bangladesh bowlers with innovative strokes. Gill also looked in complete
control ensuring that they put enough pressure on tired Bangladesh bowling. India
went into the lunch break at 205 for 3.
After the
lunch break, Pant reached his 6th test century off 124 balls. He was
eventually dismissed with a sharp return catch to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Pant and
Gill added 167 runs for the 4th wicket. Shubman Gill looked
impressive reaching his century off 161 balls. KL Rahul also played some positive
strokes as India declared their innings on 287 for 4. Rahul and Gill put on 53 unbeaten
runs for the 5th wicket. India set a mammoth target of 515 runs.
Chasing
down this mammoth target, Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam showed some positive stroke
play keeping the scoreboard ticking. It was a good batting display by both
Bangladesh openers as they went into the tea break at 56 for 0.
Yashasvi
Jaiswal took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Zakir Hasan. Bangladesh
openers put on 62 runs for the opening wicket. Najmul Hasan Shanto looked in
good touch playing attacking strokes against Ashwin. Ashwin produced the magic
dismissing Shadman Islam with another good catch by Gill. Mominal Haque and Shanto
looked in good touch keeping the momentum going for Bangladesh.
R Ashwin deceived
Haque with his variations shattering the stumps. Haque and Shanto added 38 runs
for the 3rd wicket. Mushfiqur Rahim looked to take the attack before
a stunning catch by KL Rahul at mid-on ended his innings. Shanto impressed with
fifty off 55 balls before bad light stopped play. Bangladesh ended the 3rd
day still needing 357 runs to win, 6 wickets remaining.
