Pak vs Eng 1st Test 2nd Day: Batters Continue To Dominate
The batters
continue to dominate the 2nd day of the 1st test match
between Pakistan and England played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on 8th
October 2024.
Starting on
the overnight score of 328 for 4, the nightwatchman Naseem Shah showed intent
against Jack Leach keeping the scoreboard ticking while Saud Shakeel completed
his fifty off 96 deliveries. Naseem played according to the merit keeping the
England bowlers at bay to keep the scoreboard ticking with positive intent.
After a
great first hour, Carse and Atkinson peppered Naseem with short deliveries. Carse
picked his maiden test wicket dismissing Naseem Shah as Harry Brook took a good
low catch. Naseem and Saud added 64 runs for the 5th wicket.
Mohammad Rizwan struggled against disciplined bowling before trying to hit a
big shot providing a simple catch to Chris Woakes. Saud Shakeel looked solid
with his defensive technique not looking to hit big shots. Pakistan went into
the lunch break at 397 for 6.
Salman Ali
Agha showed intent right from ball one in the second session. He kept the scoreboard
ticking keeping momentum going for Pakistan. On the other hand, Saud Shakeel was
not able to hit big shots. Shoaib Bashir delivered a lovely ball out of nowhere
to dismiss Saud caught by Root at slips. Salman and Saud added 57 runs for the 7th
wicket.
Brydon
Carse shattered the stumps of Aamer Jamal to leave Pakistan in some trouble.
Salman Ali Agha played with intent not allowing the England bowlers to settle.
Shaheen Shah Afridi also scored runs smashing boundaries and sixes with ease. Agha
reached fifty off just 71 deliveries. The hosts went into the tea break at 515
for 8.
Agha continued
to milk the runs easily reaching his century off 108 deliveries while Shaheen
Shah Afridi also hit some lusty blows. Jack Leach eventually got rid of Shaheen
trying to hit a big shot. Agha and Shaheen added 85 runs for the 9th
wicket. Abrar was eventually dismissed after being chances twice. Ben Duckett took
a sharp catch which resulted in an injury.
In reply,
captain Ollie Pope came to the crease along with Zak Crawley. A stunning catch
by Aamer Jamal ended the innings for Pope. Crawley looked in great touch
against Abrar Ahmed hitting him for boundaries. On the other hand, Root also
kept the scoreboard ticking making sure that England kept the scoreboard
ticking. Crawley scored fifty off just 55 deliveries after the return to the squad
after three months absence. England ended the 2nd day at 96 for 1.
Crawley and Joe Root put on so far 92 runs for the 2nd wicket.
