Pak vs Eng 1st Test 4th Day: England On Course For A Win

 

The England Cricket Team produced a dominating performance with great batting and bowling performance against Pakistan played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on 10th October 2024.

Starting on the overnight score of 492 for 3, Joe Root and Harry Brook began the day with positive intent putting pressure on the Pakistani bowling. Root was given a reprieve as Babar Azam dropped a sitter. After the drop chance, Root showed his class by playing with an attacking approach reaching his double century off 305 deliveries. Harry Brook also reached his milestone of 186 balls keeping the scoreboard ticking. Both batters kept the momentum going for England hitting boundaries and sixes with ease.

Root completed his 250 off 353 deliveries while Brook reached his double century off 245 deliveries. It was a sensational partnership between these two players keeping the momentum going for the visitors against lackluster Pakistani bowling. England went into the lunch break at 658 for 3.

After the lunch break, Brook showed his aggressive intent not allowing the Pakistan bowlers to settle. Agha eventually struck dismissing Root in front of the stumps. Root and Brook put on a mammoth 454 runs for the 4th wicket. Jamie Smith came to the crease with a positive intent, hitting boundaries with ease. Brook hammered the Pakistani bowling lineup demonstrating power hitting reached his 250 off 281 deliveries. Saud Shakeel dropped another chance to get rid of Smith. Smith was caught by Aamer Jamal trying to hit a big shot. Smith and Brook put on 76 runs for the 5th wicket.

Brook upped the ante with boundaries and sixes with ease. He completed the fastest triple century off 310 balls. His brilliance ended by providing a simple catch to Shan Masood for a superb 317. Babar Azam took a lovely catch to dismiss Atkinson. Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse added valuable runs as England declared their innings on 823 for 7.

Chris Woakes produced a peach to dismiss Abdullah Shafique off the very first delivery to dent Pakistan. Captain Shan Masood was dropped twice early before Saim Ayub and Shan ended the tea session at 23 for 1.

Shan Masood played a loose stroke providing an easy catch to Crawley at slips. Atkinson showed his class dismissing Babar Azam with a beauty to leave the hosts in trouble. Saim Ayub showed the rush of blood giving an easy catch to Duckett. Brydon Carse bowled a superb delivery to dismiss Mohammad Rizwan leaving Pakistan in deep trouble.

Jack Leach bowled a great delivery to dismiss Saud Shakeel in his first over leaving Pakistan struggling at 82 for 6. Salman Ali Agha and Aamer Jamal showed intent hitting some lovely shots against the pacers and spinners also. Both batters ensured that Pakistan ended the 4th day at 152 for 6 still trail by 115 runs. Salman and Aamer put on so far 70 runs for the 7th wicket. England needs just 3 wickets as Abrar Ahmed is struggling with a fever. Abrar Ahmed did not bowl on the fourth day.

Pakistan 556 in 149 overs (Shan Masood 151, Salman Ali Agha 104*, Leach 3/160, Carse 2/74) and 152 for 6 in 37 overs ( Salman Ali Agha 41*, Jamal 27*, Atkinson 2/28, Carse 2/39) trail England 823 for 7 in 150 overs (Brook 317, Root 262, Naseem Shah 2/157, Saim Ayub 2/101) by 115 runs.
