Pak vs Eng 2nd Test 3rd Day: Pakistan In A Strong Position
Pakistan looks
in a strong position at the end of day 3 of the 2nd test match
against the visiting England side played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on
17th October 2024.
Starting on
the overnight score of 239 for 6, England lost an early wicket of Brydon Carse
caught by Saud Shakeel at deep midwicket. Sajid Khan struck again to dismiss Matthew
Potts around his legs to leave England in trouble. Nauman Ali dismissed the dangerous
Jamie Smith caught by Saim Ayub. Shoaib Bashir and Jack Leach added valuable runs
before Sajid Khan registered his 7th wicket dismissing Bashir caught
by Shan Masood. Pakistan bundled out England for 291 with a lead of 75 runs.
The
Pakistani second innings did not begin well as Abdullah Shafique was dismissed
via review for caught. It was not given out by the umpire; on review it was
overturned to out as hit the gloves. Shoaib Bashir bowled brilliantly dismissing
Pakistani captain Shan Masood with a good catch by Ollie Pope. Bashir struck on
the final ball before the lunch break dismissing Saim Ayub to leave Pakistan in
trouble at 43 for 3.
Kamran
Ghulam impressed once again with attacking shots putting the England bowlers
under pressure. Leach got the breakthrough dismissing Ghulam ending 34 runs
partnership for the 4th wicket. Mohammad Rizwan looked confident
with his positive intent keeping scoreboard ticking along with Saud Shakeel. Carse
struck dismissing Rizwan with a lovely catch by Root. Rizwan and Saud added 37
runs for the 5th wicket.
Pakistan ended the 2nd session at 134 for 5. Jack Leach struck twice after the tea session dismissing Saud and Aamer Jamal to leave the hosts in trouble. Salman Ali Agha got two chances off successive deliveries. Shoaib Bashir struck to get rid of Nauman Ali caught at slips.

Khan provided solid resistance playing attacking shots keeping the scoreboard
ticking. Agha hit attacking shots reaching fifty off just 76 balls. Agha and
Sajid Khan fell in quick succession to be bundled out for 221 in the second
innings. Agha and Sajid added 65 runs for the 9th wicket. Pakistan
set a target of 297 runs in the second innings.
Sajid Khan
got the big wicket of centurion Ben Duckett with a good catch by Mohammad
Rizwan. Nauman Ali deceived Zak Crawley as Rizwan produced easy stumping to
leave England in trouble. Ollie Pope and Root steadied the ship as England
ended the 3rd day on 36 for 2.
