Ind vs Eng 4th T20I: India Seals The Series With A Comeback Win
The Indian
Cricket Team sealed the series with an impressive comeback win in the 4th
T20I match against the England side played at MCA Stadium, Pune on 31st
January 2025.
England
captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal
start for the visitors as Saqib Mahmood struck thrice in his first over
dismissing Samson, Tilak Varma & captain Suryakumar Yadav without conceding
any runs. Abhishek Sharma and Rinku Singh put some pressure on England’s bowling
with positive strokes keeping the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the first
six overs, India scored 47 for 3.
Abhishek
Sharma looked in superb touch keeping the scoreboard ticking. Adil Rashid got
the big wicket dismissing Abhishek by providing a simple catch to Jacob Bethell
at deep midwicket. Abhishek and Rinku Singh added 45 runs for the 4th
wicket. After the first drinks break, Rinku Singh tried to hit a big shot,
providing a simple catch to Adil Rashid at third man leaving India in trouble.
Shivam Dube
was dropped by Jos Buttler early on. Hardik Pandya showed some respect before
launching an assault against England bowlers. Hardik and Shivam Dube put enough
pressure in the last five overs. Hardik kept the pressure on Jamie Overton, smashing
fifty off just 27 deliveries. He eventually was dismissed by Overton, with a
good catch by Jos Buttler. Hardik and Dube put on 87 runs in rapid time to help
India recover from a tough situation.
Shivam Dube
also completed his half-century off 31 deliveries. Overton bowled a superb
final over giving away just 3 runs including a run out of Shivam Dube. India
posted 181 for 9 in 20 overs. It was a superb batting performance by Dube,
Hardik Pandya, Abhishek, and Rinku Singh to recover to a decent total.
Chasing
down 182 runs to win, Phil Salt and Ben Duckett showed intent right from the
word go putting enough pressure on the Indian bowlers. Harshit Rana was bought
as a concussion substitute replacing Shivam Dube. Ravi Bishnoi struck
dismissing Ben Duckett off the last ball of the first six overs. Duckett and
Salt added 62 runs for the opening wicket.
Axar Patel
produced a stunning delivery to get rid of Phil Salt. Bishnoi dismissed England
captain Jos Buttler with an easy catch to Harshit Rana at short third man. Liam
Livingstone looked settled taking singles and keeping the scoreboard ticking
along with Harry Brook.
Harshit
Rana got the big wicket of Liam Livingstone as Samson took a simple catch. Harry
Brook changed the momentum with 18 runs against Harshit Rana. He played with an
attacking mindset reaching his fifty off 25 deliveries. Varun Chakvarthy struck
dismissing the dangerous Brook caught at short fine leg by Arshdeep Singh.
Brook and Bethell added 34 runs for the 5th wicket.
Varun
struck in the same over dismissing Brydon Carse with an easy catch to Rinku
Singh at deep square leg. After the run-out miss by Samson, Bethell could not
handle the pressure providing an easy catch to Suryakumar Yadav at long-on.
Ravi
Bishnoi dismissed Jofra Archer taking an inside edge onto the stumps leaving
England in trouble. Jamie Overton provided some chance with some lusty hits
before Harshit Rana bowled a superb 19th over giving away just 3
runs and taking the wicket of Jamie Overton.
India
bundled England for 166 as Arshdeep Singh dismissed Saqib Mahmood. It was a
remarkable performance by the Indian team as they recovered from tough
situations in both times.
For his 53
off 34 deliveries, Shivam Dube was named the player of the match award. India
sealed the series with a 3-1 lead. The fifth and final T20I will be played at Wankhede
Stadium, Mumbai on 2nd February 2025.
India 181
for 9 in 20 overs (Hardik Pandya 53, Shivam Dube 53, Saqib Mahmood 3/35) beat
England 166 in 19.4 overs (Harry Brook 51, Duckett 39, Ravi Bishnoi 3/28,
Harshit Rana 3/33) by 15 runs.
