Thailand Masters 2025: Indian Shuttlers Shine
The Indian
shuttlers had a great outing as most of them progressed into the quarterfinals of
the Super 300 Thailand Masters played in Bangkok, Thailand on 30th
January 2025.
Kidambi
Srikanth started the day on a bright note as he defeated J Gunawan of Hong Kong
in two straight games. The first game was a closely fought encounter with both
players fighting for each point before Srikanth held onto his nerves winning
the first game at 21-19.
The veteran
Indian shuttler, Srikanth showed his domination in the second game right from
the word go putting consistent pressure on Gunawan winning with a scoreline of
21-15 to move into the quarterfinals. He will face Wang ZX of China.
J Subramanian
stunned Indonesian CA Wardoyo in three thrilling games. Wardoyo dominated right
from the word go not allowing any chances for the Indian to win the first game
comfortably at 21-9. Subramanian provided some excellent badminton in the
second game with smashes keeping the experienced Indonesian under immense to
win it easily by 21-10 to force the match into the decider.
Subramanian
displayed great badminton in the deciding game, keeping Wardoyo under immense
pressure. The Indian showed courage to win with a scoreline of 21-17 to move
into the quarterfinals. He will face qualifier 2 Zhu X C of China. Zhu X C
defeated Wangchaeron.
In the
women’s singles, R Ramraj produced another superb performance defeating Tung C-t
of Chinese Taipei in two straight games. Ramraj dominated the Chinese Taipei
player right from the word go winning with a scoreline of 21-15, 21-12 to move
into the quarterfinals. She will face T Nithiittkrai of Thailand.
P Roy and S
Pratheek defeated Thailand’s qualifier 3 pair of Kanjankeereewong and Laotherdpong
in three games. The Thai pair displayed excellent badminton with lovely shots
keeping Roy and Pratheek under pressure to win the first game by 21-14.
The Indian pairing
of Roy and Pratheek fought strongly in the next two games winning with a dominating
scoreline of 21-10, 21-9 to move into the quarterfinals. They will face the
winner of Kang K X of Malaysia or Fikri and Marthin of Indonesia.
H Amasakarunan
and Rethinasabapathi fought strongly against Korean Kang-M H and Kim W H. The
Indian pairing won the first game comfortably by 21-16 before Kang and Kim
displayed a dominating display winning the next two games easily at 21-8,
21-10.
